Welcome to the CivicLex Council At-Large

Forum & Ice Cream Social!

This forum won’t be like most others. Instead of candidates speaking on a stage about a few
topics and the audience watching, this event will allow attendees to directly engage with the
candidates in moderated small group conversations.

Here’s how it works:

Each candidate has been assigned their own room at random. They’ll remain in that room for
the entire forum. There are also six sets of topics and six moderators. Every 20 minutes, all of
the six topic and moderator sets will rotate from room-to-room. This means that every
candidate will get each of the six topic sets and each moderator.

As a participant, there are a number of ways to experience the event. You can choose to stay
with one candidate and hear them talk about all of the issues. Or, you can follow a single topic
and moderator set and hear each candidate respond. If you want to get really wild, you can pick
and choose a different pairing in each time slot! You can find the complete listing of time slots,
moderators, candidates, and locations on the back of this page.

In each conversation, the moderators will start with an opening question, then it will be up to
the audience to direct the conversation and ask candidates about what they want to hear.
Moderators will be there to make sure no one is disruptive and the conversation doesn’t veer off
track.

After all six time slots conclude, the event will end! We hope this will be a positive experience
that allows people to connect directly with their future elected leaders. Make sure to fill up on
all the delicious gelato and hot chocolate you can!

Forum Guidelines:
• Please be respectful of the candidates, facilitators, and co-participants.

• Please do not “soapbox” on your issue, or interrupt others.

• If anyone becomes unruly or aggressive they will be asked to leave.

• Eat some ice cream and drink some coffee or hot chocolate, please!
