INTRODUCTION
Gewin's research (2020) states that many universities around the world have
postponed or canceled various activities such as campus events, seminars,
conferences, sports competitions and other activities. The university has been
moving fast to transition programs to keep learning going. In response to this,
UNESCO (2020) recommends using distance learning programs and opening
educational applications and platforms that can be used by schools or colleges to
reach students and students remotely. Around 96 countries have opened platforms
in the form of online libraries, educational broadcasts on television, simulation
videos, and other online programs (Basilaia et al., 2020).
Prolonged school closure and home quarantine (self quarantine) may have
negative effects on physical and mental health (Brazendale et al., 2017).
Supported by YoungMinds research (2020) Nearly 83% of young people think
that the pandemic has worsened pre-existing mental health conditions. This is due
to school closures, loss of daily routines and limited social connections. The rest
experienced symptoms of anxiety, which was positively correlated with increased
concern about academic delay.
A. COVID-19
The Covid-19 pandemic is a health crisis that shocked the world in early
2020. The world was shocked by the outbreak of a new virus, namely a new type
of coronavirus (SARS-Co-V-2) and the disease called Coronavirus Disease
(Covid-19). This new type of virus originated in Wuhan, China which was
discovered at the end of December 2019.
The corona virus is a large family of viruses that cause mild to severe
illness, such as colds and serious illnesses such as SARS and MERS. Covid-19
infection can cause moderate to severe symptoms. The clinical symptoms that
arise are difficulty breathing, coughing, and fever. In addition, it can be
accompanied by severe shortness of breath, fatigue, myalgia, gastrointenistal
symptoms such as diarrhea and other respiratory symptoms. Half of the patients
develop shortness of breath within one week. This virus is called a pandemic
because it spreads rapidly to various countries, one of which is being carried by
tourists or people visiting other countries who have been unknowingly exposed to
the corona virus so they spread it to other people who have not been exposed.
That's how this virus mutates in the world.
This outbreak has been designated a global health emergency. This virus
had hampered all human daily activities. Quarantine alone may not be sufficient to
prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and the global impact of this viral
infection is one that is increasingly concerning (Sohrabi et al., In Putri: 2020). The
Indonesian government has taken many steps and policies to overcome this
pandemic problem. One of the first steps taken by the government is to socialize
the Social Distancing movement to the community. This step aims to break the
chain of transmission of the Covid-19 pandemic because this step requires people
to maintain a safe distance from other humans of at least 2 meters, not make direct
contact with other people and avoid mass gatherings (Buana D.R, in Putri: 2020).
WHO stresses that the use of the term pandemic does not mean that the
recommendations have changed. All countries are still required to detect, test,
treat, isolate, track and monitor the movements of their people.
"But the use of this term highlights the importance of countries around the
world to work cooperatively and openly with each other and unite as a united
front in an effort to control this situation."
