Reflection Paper No.

COURSE ORIENTATION & NSTP LAW

On September 17, 2022, I wasn’t able to attend the class since we were having an
activity for the presidential scholars. However, I was able to run through the PowerPoint
presentation that was given and I was able to grasp knowledge despite my absence. To
begin with, volunteerism was not new to me. I have been a volunteer and I know how
fulfilling it is to do such an act. Furthermore, I am grateful for this lesson because it has
expanded my understanding of volunteerism. Now I've learned that there are numerous
concepts and classifications of volunteerism. A few examples are working in academia,
the private sector, or even volunteering for a charity, and many more.

Moving on to the next topic, which is about the preamble of the 1987 Philippine
constitution, I realized that our topic when I was in grade 10 was very useful. As I read
the preamble now, I realized that the words are still familiar to me since our teacher let
us memorize them back then. In addition, I already knew the national motto, which is
makadiyos, makatao, makakalikasan, and makabansa. These words already have a space
in my memory, which I think makes me so much more of a Filipino.

And now for my resolution. This topic, which concerns the Philippine flag and the
Heraldic Code, came to my attention. I was astounded by how symbolic and important
our Philippine flag was as I read the slides. I make a vow to myself that I will respect and
honor the Philippine flag for this reason. I'll make an effort to understand all of its
guidelines and make a promise to myself not to go beyond what is improper. I must
constantly keep in mind that our flag not only symbolizes our nation and our past, but
also each and every Filipino.
