ATC-304 – BATCH
GENERAL
The functions shown in the programming format are executed in the order in which they
appear on the "Dye Program Format" from top to bottom. Meaning that if "FILLING";
"CIRCULATION"; "TEMPERATURE" and "HOLD TIME" are programmed, the first function
to be executed would be FILL, then —after the fill level in the kier has been reached— the
main pump's motor will start, and then the TEMPERATURE control function will begin.
When the programmed FINAL-TEMPERATURE value will be attained, the HOLD-TIME will
start counting.
Functions which are not programmed will be skipped over and the next following
programmed function will be executed.
If neither of the SIGNALS (CHECK; SAMPLE; UNLOAD) is programmed, the control will
advance automatically to the next STEP and will start executing the programmed functions
in the new step, independently of the functions which were programmed in the previous
one.
Programming a SIGNAL prevents the automatic advancement from one function to the
next one, and requires the intervention and acknowledgment of the operator.
A detailed description of the functions is provided in the technical manual for the user.
The programming format for a dyeing machine with an auxiliary tank is divided into to main
sections:
All the functions which are requested for the preparation of the auxiliary tank are
programmed in the "AUXILIARY TANK" section, and all the functions for the dyeing
machine are programmed in the "MACHINE" section. The connection between the two
sections is the "TRANSFER" function (transferring from the auxiliary tank to the kier).
If "TRANSFER AUX. TANK TO KIER is not programmed, the functions in the two sections
are executed independently, i.e., the auxiliary tank may be prepares and at the same time
the functions in the machine are executed. However, the automatic advancement to the
next step will take place only after the programmed functions in both sections are
completed. In this manner, the auxiliary tank may be prepared at an earlier step and
transferred to the machine at a later step.
Page 9
ATC-304 – BATCH
GENERAL
In a step where "TRANSFER" is programmed, the functions in the auxiliary tank will start
first and only after the last programmed function in this section is completed - the content
of the auxiliary tank will be transferred to the kier.
Only after the transfer function is terminated, the execution of functions in the "MACHINE"
section will commence
COUPLING
c) The coupled controllers should have the same DEFINITION and the same
PROGRAMS.
d) The program may be selected and run from one of the controllers, chosen by the
operator. This causes the same program to be selected and run in the coupled
unit.
e) Pressing RESET/STOP, ADVANCE on one of the coupled units, causes the same
result to the coupled unit. For example, RESET on one unit will cause RESET on
the coupled unit.
Page 10

GENERAL
f) Lot No. is sent when <RUN>, from the first unit to the second.
g) If one of the units ends the execution of a function before the coupled unit, it will
wait and display “WAITING FOR COUPLED UNIT”. This way, all the functions in
both units are correlated.
i) If one of the units is set in MANUAL position, the coupled unit is set to MANUAL
automatically.
j) Connect the coupled MOPs with cable, according to the drawings in the MOP
drawings section.

the message "MACHINE IS NOT EMPTY" is displayed.
Page 33
CIRCULATION
1. Programming:
2. Initial Conditions:
Fill and Load functions (if requested in step) are finished (except the situation when
option LOAD WITH CIRCULATION is programmed.
3. Description:
Page 34
– ELECTRICAL FLOW REVERSAL: IN-OUT and OUT-IN outputs are activated for
corresponding programmed times.
– PNEUMATIC FLOW REVERSAL: Pneumatic flow reversal valve is activated for
OUT-IN direction.
e) If ELECTRICAL FLOW REVERSAL option is programmed, Timer 06 will be
activated between changes of direction.
f) If DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE CONTROL option is programmed, the pump speed
is controlled by an analog output, in order to keep differential pressure at the
required value. For this control loop the actual differential pressure is measured by
an analog input.
g) If ‘Seam Control’ in Sample and/or in Unload is defined, it is supposed that there
are magnets. In this case, after circulation start, during Timer PT-53 the magnets
are searched. After this timer the controller will stop the rollers where the magnets
were not found. Thus the rollers will work only in the channels where fabric is loaded.
In any case, roller 1 will work. The operator can cancel the magnets searching, using
a switch connected as a digital input to the controller. In this case, all the rollers are
activated.
h) If 'Tangle Release Procedure' is set in the definition, the operator has the
possibility to program the required number of trials to release tangle. When tangle is
detected, the main winch stops and after a delay (Timer-26) the main winch is
activated backward for Timer 27 (the roller speed for reverse is set in Factor-33),
then stops. After a delay, the main winch starts forward again and the tangle input is
checked after Timer-28. This process is repeated for the number programmed in
'tangle release trials' field. If after the programmed number of trials tangle is still
detected, the main winch is stopped, 'TANG' message on ATC-304 and the beacon
are blinking, and on pressing the ATC-304 NEXT key the message "FABRIC
TANGLED" is displayed. If after a stop the fabric runs smoothly for Timer 29, the
trial counter is cleared and all the process starts again in a case of tangle.
– If ‘Separate Tangle Release’ is set in definition, the release is done separately
for each roller, when the corresponding tangle signal is received.
– If ‘Separate Tangle Release’ is not set in definition (common tangle release),
when a tangle is received, all the rollers execute the tangle release procedure
simultaneously. During roller reverse, pump speed is equal with Factor-18
(minimum speed). In this case, for release/backward Spare Digital Outputs 110
are used for rollers 26.
– If ‘Separate Analog Outputs for Rollers’ is set in definition during separate
tangle release, the roller where tangle occurs goes back with the speed set in
Factor-33. If there is only an analog output for all rollers, the speed will be always
as programmed in the step.
i) If AUTOCOOL ON TANGLE AND TEMPERATURE ABOVE PRESET 1 is set,
autocooling to Preset 1 is performed when a tangle occurs.
j) If programmed, spray valve V56 opens.
Page 35
k) Rollers Speed Control: If this option is set in definition, when a lot is created, the
operator will enter the Turn Around time necessary for this lot. This value is kept in
XN-47 (or Option 2 in the Central System). If the value is not entered in Lot
Creation, the value in Timer-75 is used.
The rollers will start with the value programmed in the step, till all the seams are
found. Then, per each channel, turn around time is compared with the programmed
turn around time. If the difference is greater than 10%, increase/decrease of the
corresponding roller speed is done, with the value in Factor-40 (in units of 0…255).
In any case, minimum roller speed will be as programmed in Factor-17, and
maximum as Factor-15.
If ‘Separate Analog Outputs for Rollers’ is set, this control is done separately for
each roller, conforming each seam.
If there is only one analog output for all rollers, the speed control is done conforming
with the first seam.
Speed control is not done during tangle release procedure, sample, and unload
functions.
l) Turn Around Time Monitoring: if this option is set, in Circulation, after all the
seams were found (in Timer-53), the turn around time for each channel is counted
and displayed. These values are kept in non-cleared operands XN 3540.
These values are compared with Turn Around Time entered in Lot Creation, or with
Timer-75, if Turn Around in lot creation is zero. If they are greater, ‘ROPE’ alarm is
given.

5. End Conditions:
Page 36
6. Alarms:
a) There is no feed-back from main pump. 'CIRC' blinks on display of the unit. When
pressing the ATC-304 NEXT key the message "NO FEEDBACK MAIN PUMP" is
displayed. Time counting is stopped.
b) There is no feed-back from one of the rollers 'CIRC' blinks on display of the unit.
When pressing the ATC-304 NEXT key the message "NO FEEDBACK ROLLER" is

new lot, the operator set these values and the pump/roller will work during the entire
program with the same speed.
d) If Pump Speed / Roller Speed can be set in the dye program and by the keyboard,
in the steps when the speed is not set in the program, speed is as programmed by
the keyboard. If speed is set in the dye program, this value is used and not the value
set by the keyboard.
Page 38
TEMPERATURE CONTROL
1. Programming:
2. Initial Conditions:
3. Description:
a) Temperature control begins Timer 01 after the main pump is turned on, in order to
ensure that the liquid in the machine is well mixed and is at a uniform temperature.
The controller compares the temperature in the kier, measured by the PT-100
sensor, with the required temperature. During a heating or cooling cycle with
programmable rate, the required temperature is calculated taking into account the
programmed rate and the elapsed time. When the actual temperature reaches the
programmed final temperature, the controller will act to keep the temperature
constant. If rate is not programmed and after reaching setpoint, control action is
performed at maximum possible rate. The heating/cooling process is controlled by
setting the degree of opening of the corresponding proportional (modulating) valve at
the heat exchanger. If no heating and/or cooling valve is existing in the
configuration, ON-OFF control is performed by means of ON-OFF valves
commanded from digital outputs.
b) If common heat exchanger option is programmed, heat exchanger drain is
executed before first heating command or if heating process is to be executed after
a cooling process. Drain of heat exchanger is executed by opening the heating valve
VH and the heat exchanger drain valve VD (or cool exit valve VC1 if VD is not
defined) for Timer 03. If heating valve is proportional, its opening during heat
exchanger drain is programmed by Factor 10.
c) During heating process VH1 condensate valve is open even VH steam valve is
closed. During cooling process, VC1 cool out valve is open, even VC cool in valve is
closed.
Page 39
d) If a cooling process must be executed immediately after a heating process, a
programmable timer separates the two phases.
e) If COOL RINSE is programmed, direct cooling is executed until the temperature
setpoint is reached (not when holding temperature). During direct cooling outlet
valve VCO (N.O. valve) is closed and cooling water is injected in the machine
directly via VCR. If water excess is detected, direct cooling drain valve VCRD is
open until low level is covered). While direct cooling drain valve VCRD is open and
temperature and/or low pressure in the machine are above TSL, PSL – cooling
water mixing valve VCWM is open.
The level used in cool rinse are defined by:
1. If analog level in the machine:
- Factor Level PL-1 for low level
- Factor Level PL-2 for high level
2. If digital level:
- Level L1 for low level
- Level L2 for high level
f) If steam pressure control option is programmed, when low pressure steam switch
is on:
The controller will not begin heat control.
If it is in maximum rate temperature control, or in heat in a rate greater than
Preset 05, the heating will be interrupted until the low pressure switch becomes
OFF plus Timer 07.
4. End Conditions:
The temperature control routine ends when the programmed final temperature is
reached (as programmed in the 'TEMP' field) and has been held for the time
programmed in the HOLD TIME field.
5. Display:
Page 40
6. Alarms:
a) If the temperature field is programmed for a higher temperature than the value
programmed in Preset 02, 'HEAT' blinks immediately when the routine begins.
Pressing NEXT key the unit displays the following message: "PROG. TEMP. >
Preset 02".
b) Overshoot of Preset 09 or more above the programmed temperature causes 'HEAT'
to blink. When NEXT key is pressed, the following message appears:
"OVERSHOOT > PRESET 09". Hold time counting is suspended.
c) If actual temperature is Preset 09 or more below the final programmed temperature,
hold time counting is suspended. 'COOL' will blink on ATC-304 and by pressing
NEXT key the message "UNDERSHOOT > PRESET 09" is displayed.
d) If during rate heating the actual temperature lags the calculated required
temperature by a value greater than the value programmed by Preset 10, 'COOL'
will blink and the heating valve will open fully until the actual temperature reaches
the required range. When pressing NEXT key, the unit displays the following
message: "HEATING RATE TOO SLOW". Vice versa, if the actual temperature
exceeds the calculated required temperature by a value greater than the value
programmed by Preset 10, 'HEAT' will blink and the heating valve is closed until the
actual temperature lies within the calculated range. When pressing NEXT key, the
unit will display the message: "HEATING RATE TOO FAST".
e) During rate cooling, if the actual temperature does not follow the calculations as
above, 'COOL' will blink, the cooling valve is closed and "COOLING RATE TOO
FAST" message is displayed, or 'HEAT' will blink, cooling valve is fully open and
"COOLING RATE TOO SLOW" message is displayed when NEXT key is pressed.
f) If the temperature sensor leads are open or shorted, 'HEAT' or 'COOL' will blink on
ATC-304 and the program will be suspended. When NEXT key is pressed message
"KIER PT100 FAILURE" is displayed.
g) If there is no feed-back signal from the main pump, circulation display will blink and
the heating process will stop. When pressing NEXT key displays: "NO FEEDBACK -
MAIN PUMP". Hold time counting is suspended.
h) If actual temperature is higher than Preset 03, all the control process stops. 'HEAT'
blinks. Pressing NEXT key displays: "KIER TEMP > PRESET 03".
i) If in heat control at maximum rate, or at rate greater than Preset 05 low pressure
switch is ON, 'STEAM' will blink, and when NEXT key is pressed, the message
"LOW PRESSURE STEAM" is displayed
