Project Name: Rotating Product Marketing Platform using DC
motor.
Objective:
1. Our first target is we will learn about DC motor with more
details.
2. We will know how a DC motor works.
3. We will know the usage of DC motor in our real life.
4. We will learn and know how a DC motor can be important in
marketing.

Introduction: In this mini project, we made a rotating platform for

product showcasing. We basically use a DC motor to operate the
platform. There are also some important components that we used
to control the performance of the platform. Now a days, online
business is so much popular. After the corona pandemic, people
used to buy different product via online shop or online site. Those
who are willing to run or start an online business, our project will
help them significantly. They can easily put their product and took
some photo or making attractive video by using the rotating
platform. Customers can see the 360-degree view of their product.
It will also help the customer to justify any product before they do
any purchase.
A DC motor or direct current motor is an electrical machine that
transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy by creating a
magnetic field that is powered by direct current. When a DC motor
is powered, a magnetic field is created in its stator. The field
attracts and repels magnets on the rotor; this causes the rotor to
rotate. To keep the rotor continually rotating, the commutator that
is attached to brushes connected to the power source supply
current to the motors wire windings.
One of the reasons DC motors are preferred over other types of
motors is their ability to precision control their speed, which is a
necessity for industrial machinery. DC motors are able to
immediately start, stop, and reverse—an essential factor for
controlling the operation of production equipment.
Required Components:
1. Power Supply (12V) / Battery
2. A DC Motor
3. A Voltage Regulator
4. On-Off Switch
5. PVC Pipe and PVC Sheet for platform.

Components Description:
Power Supply: For our project we used 12V power supply. We
basically used 12V battery. It is a source of electric power consisting
of one or more electrochemical cells with external connections for
powering electrical devices.

DC Motor: A DC motor or direct current motor is an electrical

the commutator that is attached to brushes connected to the

Potentiometer: We know that, we can control the speed of a DC

motor by 3 method. One of the methods is by controlling the Value
of resistance through the armature of the DC motor. By controlling
the value of the resistance, we can control the Speed of a DC
motor.

A potentiometer is a three-terminal resistor with a sliding or
rotating contact that forms an adjustable voltage divider. If only
two terminals are used, one end and the wiper, it acts as a variable
resistor or rheostat.
On-Off Switch: To Control the platform when necessary or not, we
used a switch. In electrical engineering, a switch is an electrical
component that can disconnect or connect the conducting path in
an electrical circuit, interrupting the electric current or diverting it
from one conductor to another.

PVC Pipe and PVC Sheet for Platform: To make the platform we
used PVC pipe and PVC sheet.

Figure 7: Circuit Diagram of Our Project

Circuit Description: In our project, we basically used 3 major

components. Battery for Voltage supply, Potentiometer for the
speed control, and a DC motor.
Here, we connect our Battery with the motor. But between them,
we connect a potentiometer for the controlling of the speed. We
know that, we can control a motor speed by applying 3 method.
One of them is by controlling the value of resistor in the armature
of DC motor. If we increase the value of the resistance, the motor
run slowly. Because the resistance has slowed down the current
through the motor’s armature and motor is running slowly. But if
we decrease the value of resistance, the motor’s speed gradually
increases. For this purpose, we connect a potentiometer with the
DC motor in series connection.
Methodology:
1. First of all, open proteus and create a new file.
2. Then select all the components that all are needed.
3. Click on the Placement button, and search for Battery, Fan Dc,
and POT-HG.

Figure 10: Potentiometer (POT-HG)

4. Then place all the components in the gridded workspace.
5. Connect all the components as same as the circuit diagram.
6. Connect the battery, potentiometer and DC Motor (Fan DC)
in series.

Figure 11: Simulation Circuit

7. Then run the simulation and observe the value and speed of
the DC Motor.

Figure 12: Successfully Run the circuit

Simulation Process:
1. First of all, set the battery voltage at 12V. And Potentiometer
at 50%.

Figure 13: When the potentiometer is at 50%

2. Then, decrease the value or percentage of the potentiometer.

At 21%. And we see that, the speed of the DC motor gradually
increases to 0.82 KRPM

Figure 14: When the Potentiometer is at 21%

3. Then gradually increase the value of the potentiometer to
82%. Then we see that, the speed of the DC motor decreases
to 0.68 KRPM.

Figure 15: When the Potentiometer is at 82%

Result and Discussion: From the simulation, we can see that, the
potentiometer controls the speed of the DC motor by increasing
and decreasing its resistance through armature.
If we increase the potentiometer’s resistance, the speed
decreases. And when we decrease the potentiometer’s resistance,
the speed increases. By this working principle, we can use the
potentiometer as a Rheostat or regulator.
We have made a rough final model of our project. We also add the
switch to our main hardware project. And made a controlling
method of the speed for the rotation of the platform by using a
Potentiometer.
This platform will help an online shop owner who wants to show
his or her product in details to the customer.

Conclusion: In this project, we made a small device which will help
some online shop to showcase their product attractively. It can
also be used in physical shop, where some valuable product or
special product has to show. It is not only helpful for the business
owner but also a customer will also can get the chance to see the
product perfectly. Customer can justify the product before buying.
We also learn the usage of DC Motor. How its works and how can
we control the speed of a DC motor. Among many methods, we
choose to control the speed via potentiometer, that means by
controlling the value of resistance into the armature. Hope this
project has increase our knowledge on DC motor and will help
some new online startup to boost their engage throughout the
internet.
