Definition: disorders characterized by significant and uncontrollable feelings of anxiety and fear

such that a person's social, occupational, and personal function are significantly impaired
Common victims: young adults below 35, ppl who over think, perfectionists, ppl who r resistant
to change, ppl who r empathic, introverts

Types:
- Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD): chronic anxiety, exaggerated worry and tension,
even when there is little or nothing to provoke it.
- Obsessive compulsive disorder: recurrent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and/or
repetitive behaviors (compulsions, such as hand washing, counting, checking, or
cleaning)
- Panic disorder: unexpected and repeated episodes of intense fear accompanied by
physical symptoms (chest pain, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, or
abdominal distress.
- Post-traumatic Stress disorder: developed after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal
violent (personal assaults, natural or human-caused disasters, accidents, or military
combat) in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened
- Social phobia/Social anxiety disorder: overwhelming anxiety and excessive self-
consciousness in everyday social situations.
