CHAPTER 3

Research Methodology

This chapter presents the method use, research environment, research instrument,
validating the instrument, scoring procedure, data gathering procedure and statistical
treatment which are employ to gather the data and information considered in the study.

Research Design & Method

This research study utilized the descriptive-survey method of research with the aid of
the question checklist. Descriptive analysis is prepared to establish the relationship
between the independent and dependent variables of the study.

Research Environment

This study will be going to be conducted in the City of Cebu. According to the 2020
census, it has a population of 964,169 people, making it the sixth-most populated city in the
nation and the most populous in the Visayas. It has a total of eighty (80) barangays spread over
two (2) legislative districts, North and South.

Research Respondents

We aimed to interview participants from different barangays within the City of Cebu,
various age groups, socio-economic classes, and vaccination status and attitudes. This allowed
us to ensure maximum variation sampling, which aims to capture as many population contexts
as possible. We contacted a total of 115 individuals through the information they provided (i.e.,
mobile number, phone number, e-mail). Out of the 115, 35 participants completed the
interviews. The remaining 80 either refused or could not be contacted after a maximum of
three attempts. We classified participants according to their vaccination priority group based on
the COVID-19 Vaccination Program’s prioritization framework. Those in the first priority group
(A1) were frontline workers in health facilities; other priority groups (A2 to C) comprised and
represented the general population.
