INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA
Reading is a skill that may be employed both in and out of the classroom. Reading is a
fundamental life skill, (Anderson, 1985). It is essential to a child's academic and overall
success in life. Opportunities for professional success and personal fulfillment will surely be
missed without a strong reading foundation. Even though it's crucial, reading is one of the
educational system's most difficult subjects. This issue is made even more urgent by the
technology society's constant desire for high literacy levels (Snow, Burns, & Griffin, 1998).
advancement. The level of education required always advances with the advancement of
technology. Teaching and learning in the classroom has to be original and creative in terms
particularly poor. Despite the fact that technology is developing quickly nowadays, it is not
However, the pupils at Central Elementary School in discovered that reading is the most
important skill to have based on our initial observations. They have hard time to master
skill. They struggled to fully comprehend the English texts' content. For instance, after
reading a piece, they were unable to determine its subject. Additionally, they were unable to
properly respond to inquiries about the content. The situation affects how well-versed in
English other students are. Some issues were the root cause of this challenge.
Some causes led to the difficulties. They relied heavily on the teacher and textbook
resources from the course. The majority of educators rely on printed materials. Lack of
media to support the teaching and learning processes, the absence of interactive
multimedia sources, the inability for students to participate actively in the teaching and
learning process due to time constraints, the low motivation of students, their passivity
during the English teaching and learning process, and a lack of vocabulary are all issues
that affect students' ability to learn. All of these elements played a role in the kids' poor
reading comprehension.
The students had a great aversion to reading, particularly reading aloud given that it would
be so starkly shown to the public, the English text. For instance, when the instructor
requested that one of the pupils read the passage aloud on their own he lacked self-
assurance and did not want to read among the pupils. Learning became unstable in this
circumstance, and students' interest in their studies tended to decline.
Given the aforementioned information, the teacher should look for efficient methods to
enhance the teaching and study of English reading at Central Elementary School Grade
4, Interactive multimedia is one of the techniques that can be used in the teaching and
learning process.
Research Questions
What are the lessons and insights on the implementation of Interactive Multimedia?
For this classroom action research, Grade 4 students will participate. There are 41 students in
the Section Parrot Grade 4 class and Five (5) of them can hardly read nor comprehend. This
group meets five times a week to study English. With the assistance of an English teacher at
who also works as a collaborator. A lack of reading comprehension skills will be used to choose
the study basis. The researcher will utilize pre-test and post test, teacher made questionnaire
that is subject to validation.
The tool for gathering research data is known as the research instrument. The researcher will
serves as the primary tool because she’s planning, taking action, observe, and reflect before
writing the report. In this investigation, three instruments will be used. The observation sheet,
the interview instructions, and a few tests (pretest and post test).
