My personal blog on inspiration and interest in the realm of photography

Today I will be talking about my inspirations and interests when it comes down to photography and about
any experiments that I may like to complete in the future. These would be done to broaden my curiosity
and expand my knowledge when it comes to this incredible form of art.

When it comes down to capturing images, many things inspire me and make me want to capture moments.
One, for example, is being able to represent the world in beautiful colours.
Many artists have tried capturing the world from their unique perspective, and this is something that got
me into photography over the past few years.
But, this was just a starting point, and over the past year that I have spent doing this course, it has become
clear to me that I have found new things to inspire me. Even though I have said this, capturing colour and
my unique perspective do still play a huge role in my interest as an aspiring photographer.
Capturing beautiful sites, such as sunsets, night skies and other natural wonders, such as the Aureola
Borealis, and then modifying them to bring out the colour how I remember, always makes me feel
incredibly happy. To add onto this, whenever I see an image that falls under this category, I immediately
like the picture.

But my interests don’t just lie with colour work or capturing natural sights. Over the past few years I have
become increasingly interested in capturing the stories of people who live in an unprivileged way. Other
photographers, such as Diane Arbus or Lee Jeffries, have done this in the past, and their work is incredibly
beautiful and filled with stories. Real change came out of their images and allowed the world to change
into a better place. They saw injustice in the world, captured it and brought it to light in the more
privileged part of society.
This inspires me to also capture injustices I see to help others and to find ways to use photography to help
other people.
To add onto this, being able to experience what it is like to live as a part of a marginalized group, you can
capture a story by simply taking one picture, you can learn how to help and what to tell the world. These
feelings get transmitted by a single image and you are able to tell stories and raise questions by simply
sharing it.
On the topic of telling stories, I am also incredibly fascinated by this aspect of photography. Over the years
I have made short videos, written and painted to tell a story. So when I discovered that I could do that with
one simple image, I was overjoyed. Photographers, like Henri Carter-Brennan, have published spectacular
images that make the viewer know that there is a story behind every image that they take, as well as make
the viewer have even more questions than previously. This incredible art of story telling also ties in to what
I was previously saying about helping others by showing what some people have to suffer through. When
taking all of this into consideration it is true that a picture tells more than one thousand words, and this is
why it inspires me so much.
Whenever I go into taking one of these pictures, it can take a lot of planning, but the best shots, at least in
my experience, have a lot of work behind them.

On another side, I always get inspired to take picture of things that I personally find lovely and beautiful.
Whenever I see blossoms on a tree, a beautiful dog, my friends having fun, and other such moments, I
immediately want to take a picture and capture it. I go out of my way to see opportunities to capture such
images and hold onto them as a memory. It is one of my favourite genres of photography, pictures of
people, animals, and the world in general being generally happy and alright. There are a lot of negative
things in the world, so it is always a lovely reminder that there are still positive things out there. It is
also a lovely reminder that there are thousands of small incredible things in the world that can bring
anyone joy. The faces of people who are content with watching the stars at night, or observing birds, are
incredibly inspiring to me and I represent that in my images by using my unique perspective on the world.

One of the last things that inspires me to take pictures is the sight of otherworldly views and being in
places that not many have been in before. Photographers, such as Chris Burkard, have breathtaking images
showcasing this. Being in those places makes me want to share it with the rest of the world. The part of
nature that has not been touched by man before, the dangerous area that surround the area where I stand,
it all looks breathtaking in picture form. On top of all of this, whenever I am lucky enough to stumble into
one of these places, I get to experience an amazing adventure and sense of exploration.

Lastly I would like to talk about materials and techniques that make me want to take more pictures. I
frequently use wood and stonelike textures as they are easy to find, but I find the usage of natural textures
incredibly inspirational and would like to utilize them more in the future.
Techniques that I commonly use are mostly ones to do with light and colour, such as adjusting the colours
in post-production, but I would like to use more advanced techniques to do with perspective, as I have
always wanted to attempt something like that.

All in all, there are many things that inspire me personally and I am incredibly excited to continue learning
and experimenting.
