Latter Day Saints (Family History Center “FHC”) microfiche, Death & Marriage certificates, Find A Grave
Ancestry.com has Anthony Egger, Sr.'s father as Andreas Egger or Eger born 1805, but I saw Mathais. Needs FHC verification.
Someone's research on familysearch.org states that Rosalia & Anthony Egger had two children before they were married. Namely, Mathew Eger born 1860 and
Rosalia Eger born 1863. Needs FHC verification.
According to birth records micro-fiched by the Latter Day Saints, Frances (house 87) had two illegitimate sons named Antonius & Mathias Egger.
According to the marriage certificate of Mary Egger & Melchior Steiner, they were married by a Catholic Priest (Valentine Stimmler), in St. Paul on June 1, 1886.
The witnesses were Martin Gertner & Susana Egger. Both Mary & Susana's last name was spelled at Eger.
According to the 1908, citizenship papers for Michael Egger, he was born in Pommoggen, Hungary (Pamhagen, Austria), on September 29, 1877, was 5 feet, 7.5
inches, weighed 180 pounds, had brown hair and blue eyes. He left the Hamburg port on the vessel “Pretoria”. After New York check in, he came to Minnesota on
July 9, 1899. He lived at 1139 Marion Street, St. Paul, MN and signed the document as Meik Egger.
According to the 1910 Petition for Naturalization of Meik Egger, he lived at 1139 Marion, St. Paul and is a teamster. He was born in Pammaggen, Hungary
09/29/1877. He immigrated from Hamburg, Germany about 01/05/1899 and took the vessel Pretoria arriving in New York on 01/21/1899. He lived in Minnesota
since 07/09/1899. His wife is Mary Egger and their five children are listed. He renounces his alligience to Francis Joseph Apostolie, King of Hungary. Witnesses
were Michael Heller (grocery business, 1144 Marion St.) and Joseph M. Pottgerser (real estate business, 217 E. 8th St.). Signed 09/20/1910.
Note: According to Find A Grave, Michael Heller's parents were: Christine & Florian Heller. Joseph Heller is probably Michael Heller's son or brother as he's listed
in the 1909 St. Paul City Directory as clerking for Michael and living at 1144 Marion.
According to the marriage certificate of Michael Egger and Mary Kotzenmacher (have 1902), they were married by a Catholic Priest (Anthony Ogulin), in St. Paul on
July 7, 1902. The witnesses were J. Jandel & Rosalia Coyegaw (sp?). Michael's last name was spelled, Eger and Father Anthony Ogulin was at St. Bernard's Catholic
Church.
1903 St. Paul City Directory: Egger, Rosalie (domestic), 1234 Farrington Ave., St. Paul, Minnesota.
Note: address is the home of Rosalia’s sister and husband, Stephan and Susanna (Egger) Andert.
On Roll 14B Marriage Book 39 (MHS fiche), Rosalie Egger married Michael King on 02/26/1906 and a witness was Frank Koeing.
Pastmn.weebly.com (last updated 2022)
Note: A Rose & Michael E. King are buried at Calvary Cemetery in Hankinson, North Dakota, but not the couple from this family. That Rose was Rosa Margaret
Blenner born in Sebula, Iowas on 01/22/1871.
Next Generations
Children of Frances Egger & ? (illegitimate):
1. Egger, Antonius 07/22/1885
2. Egger, Mathias 10/25/1886
To do:
Double check birth dates as they might be baptismal.
Ancestry.com has another daughter named Carol that needs to be double checked on the FHC microfiche.
Ancestry.com has the father of Anthony as Andreas, but I had Mathias. Need to double check on FHC microfiche. That same entry has his mother as Anna Unger
which can't be true if Anna was born in 1842 and Anthony born in 1835.
Ancestry.com has a relative named Annie Elimra Egger who might be the wife of an Egger man.
Did Rosalia & Anthony Egger really have two sons named Antonius? If so, the first Anthony must have died before 1879.
Did Anthony Egger have a sister or niece named Anna Egger who married Mathais Andert? Anna was probably born about 1850 because she had a son, Frank Andert
who was born in 1870.
Were Michael King's parents Michael King (1839 to 05/12/1932 (1932-23857)) and Hanora Lee (1841 to 1920)? Another Michael J. King lived from 1847 to 1920
and was a civil war veteran (Co. D, 2 Minn Cavalry). They're all buried at Calvary in St. Paul, MN.

Information provided from a living relative who learned the family history from her Aunt Rose Peterson:
Around 1914, Joe and Tony Steiner were working and living near Berg, North Dakota until Joe died in 1914 (from tuberculosis). In 1914, Melchor and Mary Steiner
lived in Annamore, Minnesota (probably Anamoose, ND in McHenry County). Joe's body was transported back to Annamore, MN, by Tony Steiner & John Budd, to
be buried (again probably Anamoose, ND). John Budd was from Vermont and worked with or for Tony & Joe Steiner in Berg, ND. It was in Annamore, MN that
John Budd met Josephine Steiner and they married on June 14, 1916. Mary Steiner had three sisters who all came to the United States and settled in Minnesota –
Susan, Rose and Elizabeth.
After Joe died, Melchor and Mary Steiner moved from McLean County, North Dakota to McKenzie County to finish claiming Joe Steiner's homestead. (In 1995, that
property was owned by Mr. Kummer.)
Tony and brother Joe wrote to their family on December 24, 1913 when the two bachelor brothers were working in Berg, North Dakota. Joe writes, “Tony took that
picture. He took some more here, but he didn’t have the paper to print them.” The picture was printed in a local newspaper at the time. Tony was known for
photography – particularly when he was young before he married.

Esley Edmond Henderson bio by Texie Henderson – Esley Edmond Henderson was born in Dundas, Minnesota, in Rice County on September 29, 1875. He came to
Dakota Territory in 1886 on an immigrant train. The family homesteaded south of Richardton. In the spring of 1901, Esley and his brother, Earl, crossed the Little
Missouri River in search of pasture and hay to winter their cattle. Esley found work with Cal Dodge. On June 6, 1901, it snowed until the north side of the Blue
Buttes was white. In the spring of 1902, they built a camp on Bear Den Creek, hauling all supplies from Hebron. Soon the Davis Ferry was put in, and they hauled
their supplies from white Earth, 60 miles north. Although the Hendersons used horses, many of their neighbors used oxen. Entertainment was scarce, and they would
ride a saddle horse 40 miles to attend a party. They went to the post office about once a month. As the years passed, Hendersons shipped cattle from Hebron, 85
miles southeast; from Killdeer, 40 miles south; from Dickinson, 75 miles south and from Plaza, 110 miles northeast. The country was wide open with no roads or
farm houses. One time Esley and Ben F. Manning ferried a beef herd across the river and lost their way. It snowed that night and the next day. With their crew was a
wise old Indian, Spotted Horn, who managed to pilot the herd to camp. Another time when Esley and Manning were crossing the river just below the old Spanish
Bridge site, the ferry engine quit with part of the herd still on the other side of the river. The men were on the side away from the chuck wagon. A row boat was
provided to carry them back across the river. But six men and a leak were too much for the boat and it tipped. Henderson and Manning, who were dressed complete
with “chaps” nearly drowned. Ben Manning, being nearly 6 feet 3, said he could wade the river, but found he couldn’t touch bottom. The ferry captain, Mr. Senechal,
took them in and gave them supper. After supper, they dried their clothes by a brush fire. Esley was a successful rancher; well respected in the neighborhood. In
1917, he married Rose Susan Steiner and to this union were born 3 children. Lyle Monroe was born in 1918, Paul Lester in 1920, and Marie Anna in 1924. Marie
Anna died in 1925.
In 1946, Lyle married Mary “Texie” Hazel Clifford of El Paso, Texas. Their six children are: Lyleen Marie, Lyle Monroe, Jr., Herbert Harvey, Emmalee Rose,
Clifford Esley Edmond, and Dixie Jonelle.
In 1948, Paul married Hazel Caroline Lovass of Keene, North Dakota. Their children are: James Esley, Patsy Lynette, Penny Lynn, Dennis Lester, Donna Louise,
Larry Dean and Kimber Scott.
Esley Henderson’s Ranch (about 3,800 acres) is located 4 miles east and 4 miles south of Johnson’s Corners. Lyle Henderson took it over.
Esley Henderson died on November 27, 1950. – From ’50 Years In The Saddle, Looking Back Down The Trail’ Vol. 3, 1990.
Earl Isaac Henderson (Elsey's brother) was inducted into the North Dakota Hall of Fame, Bismarck, ND, in 2004 – Pre-1940 for ranching. Earl lived 01/17/1883 to
07/23/1980. Earl's ranch was bought by Hazel & Paul Lester Henderson (the nephew of Earl and son of Esley). Paul & Hazel Henderson's horse ranch reached a
peak of 60 horses. (Paul and Hazel had seven children.)
Tony & Nettie Steiner lived in Watford City, North Dakota for twelve years before moving to Remer, Minnesota where they lived for eleven years. They then moved
to Anoka, Minnesota where they lived for the next twenty-eight years before he died in 1970.
John Paul Steiner moved with his family to Croff, North Dakota as a child. He lived with wife Ava, in Williston, North Dakota where he worked as a cowhand on
Esley Henderson's (his brother-in-law). Their only child, a daughter Frances was born in North Dakota. They moved to Auburn, Washington in 1943 and lived there
the remainder of their lives.
Josephine & John Budd lived in Devils Lake, ND and then moved to Remer, Minnesota (Cass County). Then they moved to Oregon and then to Washington State.

Birth, death & marriage certificates, family members' recollections
Bernice Hanggi (Leitner) said that Susanna Egger came to the US along and her sisters, Mary & Rose, were already here. I wonder if the rest of her family has passed
away in Pamhagen, Austria. Mary married Mr. Steiner & Rosalia married Mr. Michael Keinz which seems to really be Michael King. On Roll 14B Marriage Book
39, Rosalie Egger married Michael King on 02/26/1906 and a witness was Frank Koeing. Also, Ancestry.com has Ramsey County Marriages for this couple. An
Egger daughter of Michael married a Keinz which is probably what Bernice was thinking.

The Andert's marriage license (1888) has Stephen Andart & Susie Agar.
St. Agnes Catholic Church records has Susanna Egger's mom's maiden name as “Joutel”.
Stephan W. Andert's best man was Stefan Sailer. Sailer's immigration papers said he arrived in New York, NY in December 1883. Maybe the two Steves traveled
together.
According to the 12/09/1889 St. Paul Globe, Stefan Andert was on the advertised list of unclaimed letters at the St. Paul Post Office (this could be another Stephan
Andert).
According to the 08/24/1891 St. Paul Globe, Stefan Andert was on the advertised list of unclaimed letters at the St. Paul Post Office (this could be another Stephan
Andert).
According to the 1895 census, they lived at 489 Hatch Street. Stephen age 28 (farmer), Susana age 23, Frank age 5, Stephan age 4 & Edward age 1.
Stephan Andert's best man, Stephan Seiler (Sailer), arrived in New York, NY in December 1883. (Source: Stefan Sailer's final papers to become a U.S. Citizen.)
Perhaps the two Stephans traveled together.
Stefan (Stephan) Andert took out a life insurance policy with the Catholic Order of Foresters on 11/04/1896. He was 30 and his birth place was Abetlan (Apetlon),
Ungarn (Hungary). He was a laborer and his beneficiary was his wife, Susanna Andert. He died on July 18, 1943.
According to the birth certificate of Christine Eva Andert (1897), the medical doctor was Maggie Beck. There was a affidavit to amend the certificate of 06/18/1943.
They changed her birth date from May 29, 1897 to May 27, 1897. Her parents were Susanna Andert & Stafan Andert. The birthplace of mother is listed as German.
According to the birth certificate (1901) of Elizabeth Andert, her parents Steven & Susana were both born in Hungary. Her first name is not listed and the reporter is
J. Ohage, M.D.
Bernard M. Andert’s Godparents were Christina & Frank Tschida (source: St. Bernards and they have his birth date as January 11, 1899).
Elizabeth Susana Andert was baptized on June 16, 1901 and her Godparents were Christina & Frank Andert.
Nicholas James Andert was baptized on June 21, 1903 and his Godparents were Rosalia Egger & Nicholaus Sigaki.
Rose Marie Andert was baptized on January 22, 1905 and her Godparents were Rosalia Egger & Martin Tschida.
According to Rose Andert's birth certificated, she was born on 01/12/1905 by Midwife Paar. No ages were listed for her father, Stephen & mother, Susan. Susan was
born in Hungary.
Stephan Wenzel Andert died of heart problems at Ancker Hospital. He was buried at Calvary on July 20, 1943. The plot is on the East side up on the hill.
According to Stephan Andert's obituary, besides for his wife and children surviving him, he also had 32 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren surviving him. He
was a member of the St. Anthony Society & St. Martinus Court No. 550 C.O.F.
Stephan Andert's probate case was filed in Ramsey County on 10/18/1943 (#68950).
I believe that Susana's sister, Rosalia King, died between 1906 and July 12, 1937.

According to the death certificate of Elizabeth Andert (1909), she died of black diphtheria at the City and County Hospital and Dr. A.B. Ancker signed her death
certificate. (Note: The hospital was known as Ancker Hospital and then Ramsey Hospital and then Regions Hospital.) She was a school girl.
Lizzie Andert was buried at Calvary Cemetery, on August 24, 1909 (in section 4, block 5, grave 15). St. Bernard’s Catholic Church recorded her death date as August
24, 1909.
See the St. Paul City Directories chart for addresses, employers & family groupings. For instance, in 1910, Stephen M. Andert worked at a paper factory and Anthony
Andert was a clerk in a Department store.
According to the death certificate of Catherine Andert (have), whe died at Bethesda Hospital of a exhausation, general peritonitis due to acute perforated appendicitis.
The informant was Stephan Andert & he's buried at Calvary Cemetery (section 52, row 35, grave 43). Her doctor is listed as Dr. V. Peterson, 885 Rice Street. She is
not on MHS’ death index unless her name was spelled wrong. The 07/16/1913 St. Paul paper lists her under Deaths – Andert, Catherine, Bethesda Hospital, 5 years.
I could not find the graves of Katy or Elizabeth Andert. They are not buried next to each other and do not have grave markers.
Elsie was baptized at St. Bernard's Catholic Church on 01/19/1918 which is three days before her marriage.
In 1918, Stephan was a witness in a immigration matter - According to Mathias Tschida's Petition for Naturalization, he immigrated from Havre, France on
12/23/1907, and arrived in New York on 01/06/1908 on the vessel SS La Gascogne. Mathias arrived in St. Paul on 01/08/1908. He declared his intention to become a
citizen on 12/07/1914. He was married and his wife is dead. His five children all live in St. Paul, MN. His witnesses were Stephen Andert, fuel dealer, 1234
Farrington Avenue, St. Paul & George A. Deutsch, printer, 76 West Geranium, St. Paul, MN.
Stephen M. Andert died of tuberculosis. I did not find a death notice. The 1922 City Directory has, Steven M. Andert employed as a book binder & living at 343 W.
Maryland Avenue. The 1923 City Directory states that he died at age 30 on June 29, 1922.
On or about November 7, 1938, Stephan & Susan had a 50th wedding anniversary party. See the group picture at the North End Community Club (Rice Street) under
the Andert tab.
Anthony W.G. Andert was in WWI and was the only solider in the bunch (according to Aunt Lorraine Eheim). He was an active member of the American Legion and
the past commander of North End Post 474 American Legion.
Fred Leitner's mom's maiden name is misspelled as Filipcheck on the MHS' death index. Anthony Andert's death cert. is not on MHS' death index.
1940 (April 10th) St. Paul Census: Andert, Stephan (age 74) & Susan (age 71). Both born in Austria.
According to the death certificate of Steven Andert (1943), he lived in the St. Paul community for 61 years – so since 1882. He was a retired coal dealer and never in
the armed forces. He died from Broncho pneumonia and cerebral vascular accident. An autopsy was not done & the informant was his wife.

550, C. O. F. (Catholic Order of Foresters policy holders). Mass at St. Bernard's Catholic Church.

According to the death certificate of Susana Andert (1958), she died at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 90 Wilken Street, St. Paul of coronary occlusion. The informant
was Sister Agatha.
According to Susana Andert's obituary, she had 33 grandchildren and looks like 73 great-grandchildren. Her mass was at St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
Susana was buried at Calvary on February 22, 1958. To find Stephan & Susan's graves, they are behind a tall Virgin Mary stone and in the SW corner of the section.
In 1973, Rose Leitner, Fred Leitner, Joan Leitner and Gladys Leitner (Bob's wife) traveled to Austria. They stayed with cousins of Aunt Rose. Joan & Bernice do not
remember the names, but the house was where Susanna Egger grew-up and is still in the Egger family. (The statute that Susan Andert mentioned was still in the
garden and only about ten inches high.)
1920 Nicholas W. (hlpr) boarding at 1234 Farrington Ave. (He was 16 or 17 then and his middle initial should be J.)

To do:
Did Anthony, Mathias, Antonius, Elizabeth & Francis Egger come to the US too?
Egger might be short for Eggerman.
Research the St. Anthony Society & St. Martinus Court No. 550 C.O.F.
In the 1885 City Directory, a Stephen Andert boarded at Charles & Faber & was a teamster.
In 1896, another Stephan Andert (a laborer) boarded at 463 Hatch. He was not in the 1897 City Directory. Not sure who he is.
Does Susanna Egger have an uncle or brother named Christ Egger too? I have his marriage certificate to Mrs. Catherine Wenner (she was probably widowed) on
September 22, 1894. Christ & Catherine are also on the 1895 Ramsey County Census. He was born in 1852 or 1853 (age 42 in 1895) and Catherine was born in 1859
or 1860 (age 35 in 1895).
Did Susanna Egger have another sister, aunt or cousin named Anna who was born on 04/10/1850. Anna married Mathias Andert and had a son, Frank Andert, on
08/20/1870?
When did Farrington Avenue change to Farrington Street?

To do:
Who was Benjamin married to Mary A.? Mary is listed on the 1930 St. Paul City directory as the wife of Benj. & having the same address as Michael & Mary Egger.
Otherwise, did Michael Egger & Susan Andert have another relative named, Benjamin? He is not on the Find A Grave or MHS death index. Go further with the St.
Paul City Directories between 1931 to 1937 to see if there’s a death date or move date.
Look at St. Paul Newspaper to see if Elizabeth's tragic death mention. (Bon fire ignited clothes.)
Who are Mrs. Kate & Elidia who are listed in the 1907 City Directory?
Anthony Egger has a probate file in Ramsey County.
Did Joyce & Anthony have a son, Anthony, who died on 01/18/1937 (right after birth)?
