RFC board
When IF amplifier board is 03P9335–55A/B and –66, replace the RFC board with one
having FPGA program V0023 and diodes, 1SS396. The FPGA program number is
displayed on “4. Factory Test” in Factory menu.
After replacing the RFC board, update Main and RFC program to the current versions,
V02.35 and V01.24 respectively.
IF amplifier board
When IF amplifier board is 03P9335–66, change it to the modified one which is
identified with a yellow round label. See Fig.2. S and X band radars use the same IF
amplifier board.
Factory-modified sets
Note;
1) The model name is changed from RTR-081 to RTR-081A, but this change is not
applied to Installation and Operator’s manuals, including the outline drawing.
2) The RF unit as spare parts is shipped without the waveguide adapter. Use one
mounted on the RF unit to be replaced. Fig.5
3) Table below shows how to exchange the RF unit between two transceiver units.
Factory-modified sets
1. Enter a cable tie about half way through the cable tie holder.
2. Fix the EMI core with the cable tie. See Fig.3. (The EMI core is fixed temporarily before
mounting the IF AMP case.)
3. Ground the shielding tube with a grounding cable clamp, E0809A and M4x10 Sems screw
fixing the IF AMP case cover. See Fig.4.

(1) A target echo is displayed with more smoothed edge. A closed target is more
easily identified on a short range. (Related software: ECHO FPGA)
(2) ARPA target swap to sea clutter is improved. (Related software: SPU FPGA)
(3) TTM data is always output from ECDIS port, J619 on TB board, regardless of
INS menu setting. (Related software: MAIN)
Note:
(1) RFC program cannot be updated through the LAN port.
(2) To use the LAN port on SPU boards –33 and before for software update,
SPU program is updated to V02.43 with the mini program card.

Software Update Procedure from LAN Port
1. Connect the PC to the processor unit, RPU-013 via a Hub with LAN cables.
2. Set IP address of the LAN port on the PC to 172.31.3.100 and Subnet mask to
255.255.0.0.
3. Click the “bat” file
4. Turn on the radar, FAR-2xx7 and wait for a while so that the following display is
shown on the PC screen. The update is executed automatically.
6. Turn off the radar and disconnect the PC from the processor unit.

Note 1: Problem by ver 2.43 (Older versions do not have this problem.)
Symptom:
Targets in GZ cannot be acquired. Once the target symbol appears when ACQ is pressed
but it is shortly lost and next symbol appears on same echo. Same problem does not
happen by manual acquisition.
Remedy 1
Update the software to ver 2.50.
Remedy 2
When ver 2.50 is not available, change the ARPA detail data by the following procedure.
1. Depressing [1] key, press [2], [3] and [4] keys in this order to open [FACTORY] menu.
2. Go to [INITIALIZE] menu by pressing [1] key. Select 6 [ARPA preset] – 7 [ACQ
PRESET] – 6 [ARPA DETAIL DATA].
3. Select 9. DETAIL DATA and enter No. = 038 and DATA = 0018.
4. Turn OFF and ON the radar.
5. Set GZ zone and checked that the targets in GZ are normally acquired.
Note: Data No. 38 (w_mtch_mod) should be set back to DATA = 0000 when program
is updated to ver 2.50 or later version.
1) ARPA video level setting is not overwritten when the program is updated, that is old
setting 16 remains after updating the program to 2.43 or 2.50. Check and set the level
to 13 after program update.
2) In case that the acquisition of smaller target at longer range is still weak at video level
13, differentiation and signal processing level in ARPA DETAIL data should be modified.
Factory default of differentiation and signal processing level with Ver 2.43 and 2.50 are
insufficient.

CFAR TAP (No. 007): Refer to Remedy 2 of Note 1, Go to [ARPA DETAIL DATA] menu.
Select 9. DETAIL DATA and enter No. = 007 and DATA = 0007.
D alpha (No.097): Go to [ARPA DETAIL DATA] menu. Select 9. DETAIL DATA and enter
No. = 097 and DATA = 0003.
4/4
After changing the DATA, turn OFF and restart the radar. Go to ARPA preset menu and
turn on QV and compare it with raw radar video. The echo strength of smaller target such
as buoy and ship at longer range (e.g. 5-6 nm) should be similar to raw radar video. If not,
adjust QV echo level
Note: EAV and ES must be turned off to see real QV level. These functions effect to echo
presentation on screen, but have no effect to ARPA video processing.
4) Use the Operator’s manual for new IMO software - edition K. The manual is
downloadable from Tecnet.
Notes
1) When the software is updated to ver. 3.xx from 2.xx, do Factory Default.
1.1) Take note of the Initial setting data and other settings. Or save the data
onto the card via CU-200 as I (Initial setting) and S (Setting) file.
1.2) Update the software.
1.3) Do Factory default.
1.4) Set Initial setting and other settings. It is not necessary to change ARPA
DETAIL data shown in FQ3-2008-020.
2) Inter switch is not possible between ver. 3.xx and 2.xx. Use same software
version in one radar network.
3) After finishing above job, turn off all radars in a network. When HB is used,
turn off HUB too.

Change of Terms
Change of Marks
See paragraph 4.
Detail of change
1.1 Default of brilliance differs among Day, Dusk and Night. 6 colors are provided in the
brilliance menu and 4 colors are switchable by BRILL box. To lessen the brilliance level
difference between background and characters, all menu boxes has background color
(Day-Green and Day- red menu box has gray background color).
1.2 Character font is changed so as to obtain the necessary viewing distance (1200 mm for
MU231CR) of character.
1.3 Data box positions of REF POINT, SET DRIFT and WATCH boxes are moved. Drop
mark and Data boxes are added at the bottom of screen. Two cursor data box is
available by all radar types. Upper box displays cursor L/L, and lower box displays
range/bearing or X-Y range to cursor (switchable).
1.4 Anchor watch screen is added. Three modes, RADAR, RADAR+PLOTTER and
ANCHOR WACH mode is standard.
