How housing problems in cities and towns can be solved

Housing problems are directly related to the cost of housing in a community. With that being said, there
are many housing problems in my area. The issues related to this topic are the high costs of renting, the
poor quality of some homes and the lack of capacity to build new ones. We need to increase the supply
of all types of housing, as well as take action in improving the affordability and comfortability in all
homes.

Although extending the suburbs means more affordable homes for those in need, it could also cause
negative impacts on the environment like endangering wildlife species and polluting nature.
Suburbanization has many negative social impacts. Due to isolation in the suburb area, children living
there grow up to be completely dependent on their parents.

High-rise blocks are not the way to go either. People who live on the high floors of a high-rise are less
likely to leave their houses, which prevents them from socializing and experiencing life to the fullest.
Studies believe that the level of and isolation that has been proven to negatively impact health and even
shorten people’s lives, increase with the height of the building.

In conclusion, renovating properties would be the best answer. Compared to construction, renovation is
much cheaper. You can make good use of existing structures, and nearly always spend less money,
because you don’t need as many materials.

In my opinion renovating properties could be the solution to housing problems.
