Genghis Khan was born in 1162 in Mongolia. He was born Temϋjin. His father
was the chief of their tribe. When Temϋjin was 9 years old, his father was
killed by their enemy, the Tatars. Temϋjin then became their tribe’s chief.
Though he was young, he had many followers.
Genghis Khan died in 1227. His son, Ögedei became his successor. Genghis
Khan’s grandson, Kublai Khan would conquer all of China and establish the Yuan
Dynasty. Genghis Khan once said, "conquering the world on horseback is easy; it is
dismounting and governing that is hard."
Temϋjin managed to build up a large army. He conquered other tribes and they became a single
Mongol nation.
