1960’s – head projector used in classrooms to enhance teaching and learning

- First handheld calculator (use of computer to teach arithmetic and spelling)

1970’s – Computer Devices

- From mainframe to microcomputer and their widespread use in schools.


- Microcomputer (ARPANET the forerunner of the internet was invented

1980’s – PowerPoint (presenting information)

- Inventor was Robert Gaskins

1990’s – connecting to the world

- The advent of World Wide Web (www) and creation of course websites, webcam, multimedia
and new schemes of communications.
- Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web while working at CERN in 1989, applying the
concept of hyperlinking that had by then existed for some decades.
- Google as a search engine was invented. Endless information was introduced.
- The Smart Board/white board was introduced (CD-ROM Used as a form of storage of
information) Dry Erase Board

Interactive Age – expansive growth to the Internet -database, videos, social media, communication.

2000-2009 – From Floppy Disc to Flash Drive

- Smaller but more space store


- External Drive
- YouTube – essential in education

2010-2020 – connectivity and collaborative tool

- Educational Apps
