1. Explain about World Meteorological Organization its functions, and objectives.

How Seafarers can benefit on WMO.
As a specialized agency of the UN, WMO is committed to promoting global coordination and
cooperation in matters relating to the state and behavior of the Earth's atmosphere, its
interactions with land and oceans, the weather and climate they produce, and the distribution of
water resources that results from these interactions.
National Meteorological and Hydrological Services are available around-the-clock to offer
crucial weather and climate data as well as to monitor Earth Systems. They enable decision-
makers, communities, and individuals to better prepare for weather and climate events by
providing early and accurate warnings of severe weather, changes in air quality, and climate
variability and change. Their alerts promote socioeconomic development by preserving life and
property, safeguarding natural resources, and preserving the environment. With this work and in
helping them fulfill their obligations under international agreements for disaster risk reduction,
climate change mitigation and adaptation, and sustainable development, WMO assists National
Meteorological and Hydrological Services.

WMO facilitates and promotes:

 The creation of a comprehensive Earth System monitoring network to give data on
weather, climate, and water
 The construction and upkeep of data storage facilities and communication networks for
the provision and quick interchange of data pertaining to weather, climate, and water.
 The development of observation and monitoring standards to guarantee sufficient
uniformity in the techniques and processes used globally and, as a result, confirm the
homogeneity of data and statistics
 The delivery of weather, climate, and water-related services through the use of
operational meteorology and hydrology and the application of science and technology to
lower disaster risks and aid in climate change adaptation, as well as for industries like
transportation (air, maritime, and land-based), water resource management, agriculture,
health, energy, and other areas
 Operational hydrological initiatives and improved coordination between the National
Meteorological and Hydrological Services in states and territory where they are distinct
 The organization of scientific study and instruction in meteorology and associated areas.

3. Explain how to avoid TRS tropical revolving storm in Northern and southern
hemisphere and create or add some illustration on your answer
In the Northern Hemisphere (NH) and the Southern Hemisphere (SH), a tropical rotating storm
(TRS) is a storm system with a low-pressure center around which winds of gale force (34 knots
or force 8) or greater blow spirally inward (SH).
