Logging into the EMEA NetApp Training Portal

Prerequisites:

- WinXP Professional SP3, 32 bit. Internet Explorer 7.0 and FireFox 3.5. Sun JRE 6
- Win7 Enterprise 32 bit and 64 bit. Internet Explorer 8.0 and FireFox 3.5. Sun JRE 6

Login Process:

1) Go to https://sa-ams.netapp.com. You will see the following. Note the example username used
in this image and the password have been entered. In the “Realm” dropdown, choose “NETAPP-
AD”.

2) After this, you will be prompted to install the JUNIPER ACTIVEX. Please accept the installation of
the Juniper “ActiveX”.

3) Then you will be prompted to “resume the connection”. Please RESUME to connect, do not
CANCEL. You are now in the “portal” and you will see a screen with a list of systems. You will be
given a system to use by your instructor – choose only that system.

Note the “Sign Out” button above. This is how you will exit this screen later, when you are through with
the portal PC. This closes the “login session” on the portal.

4) When you click to select the PC assigned to you by your instructor, you may get the IE security
warning. Continue, choosing Connect.

5) The virtual desktop of the machine you will use for training appears. The username and
password will be provided to you by the instructor.

Appendix A: FAQ

1.  My username and password don’t seem to work.  Why is that?


a. Check the drop –down and ensure that you choose NetApp-AD for your network.
b. Check Caps Lock
c. You must be registered for a NetApp GSC class. You will be given a username, password
and machine name for login to the portal and for your learning PC inside the portal.

2. After I connect to my PC and login, I can’t connect to my assigned systems.  What do I do?
a. Open a command window and try to ping the system. Start > run> cmd  Type: ping
10.61.XX.XX
b. Try again if the ping command is successful

3. I keep forgetting to log-off and sign-out.  What happens?


a. A session will be left, unconnected, which will be unavailable until it times out.

4. I can’t connect to https://sa-ams.netapp.com.


a. Check to see if you have a different VPN client running.
b. If you recently closed a VPN client, reboot to clear any existing virtual connections
c. Ensure that you are not using VPN software on your system and that the virtual
interfaces from any previous VPN usage have been removed.
d. Ensure that you have broadband internet access and that you can easily browse sites
out on the internet.
e. Ensure the cache for Internet Explorer has been cleared.

5. How do I get to the GSLP Training Network from the NetApp internal network?
a. No special software is required to access the training equipment from the internal
NetApp network.
