The two major themes discussed in the novel Joseph Andrews are the theme of jelousy and the

theme of
love and effection. Jospeh Andrew is an old novel, but the question arises is it posssible to find these
themes in modern era? in my opinion yes, The movie A walk to remeber, that is based on the novel
Nicholas Sparks has some of the themes that resembles to that of Joseph Andrew. No doubt the concept
and context is different in both yet the themes are quite similar.

A walk to remeber is a romantic drama, that revolves around the two main characters Landon and Jamie.
In this movie chaisty of male and female is represented so beautifully like Jamie was the daughter of
church minister. She was so religious, she used to work in church. She was innocently pure as in one of
the scenes when Landon ask her to go out with him she said, "I am not allowed to date" that shows she
never went out with a guy ever. In another scene when Landon came to her house to gift her a sweater
her dad told her, "boys like these have expectations, you should care about God's opinion" that shows
how pure and religious she was. She didn't only take care of her chasity but she cared about her religious
beliefs as well. If we talk about Landon, he was a rich, popular and handsome guy. It was no task for him
to win any girls heart though he was not very religious but he was pure too. When one of his friend ask
him that, "my parents are not home, if you want to come inside." he refused to go. So in this movie
chasity of both male and female is described.

Joseph andrewshas endless examples of chasity. Lady Boby tried so hard in Book 1 to seduce Joseph but
he never reciprocated her feelings. In a scene she was so pissed that she asked Jospeh, "Are you a boy."
but Joseph didn't respond and left. There was another women, Ms Slip Slop. She has the same intention
towards Joseph as Lady Boby had. She told Joseph, "I have always favoured you, now its time for you to
pay me back." to which Joseph said, "I've always looked ypu as a mother."

Love and affection is a theme without wich any romantic novel, drama or movie is incomplete. A walk to
remeber displays love so beauitfully that it made the audeience beleive in fairytale love again. In the
begining of the movie, Jamie asked Landon not to fell in love with her to which he replied,"that won't be
a problem." that tells the audience that they both were not in love in the begining and Landon actions
and behaviors says the same. He never looked at Jamie, he used to laugh at her with his friends and use
to ignore her in school. But, things take a turn when he fell for her. He did every possible thing to make
her smile. "I can't dance, as in I don't know how to dance." (Landon, A walk to remeber) but after he fell
in love with Jamie, he learned to dance. There was a scene in which Landon mother ask him to talk to his
father and he said," I will never talk to him" (Landon, A walk to remeber) but when he came to know
about the illness of Jamie he ran towards his father and requested him for the help in Jamie's tratment.
And knowing how ill she was, she will die soon he asked her,"Will you marry me?"(Landon, A walk to
remeber) and they got married.

As for Joseph Andrews the theme of love is prominent through out the novel. It talks about Joseph and
Fenny's love. Joseph use to work for elite class, where the ladies tried so hard to seduce him he could
have said yes to them but he never did. His love for fenny was so pure. In a scene when Joseph was on
his way to meet fenny, he got robbed and the robbers took the peice of gold from him. After that he got
ill and upset, not beacuse he was robbed but beacause the piece of gold was a gift from Fenny. He
couldn't bear that he lost a gift of Fenny. Fanny and Joseph are star-crossed lovers—that's for sure.
Fanny's a gorgeous gal who rushes to Joseph's side—or at least tries to—when she hears he's in trouble.
While Adams dozes by the fire, Joseph and Fanny declare their love for each other. Enraptured, Joseph
wakes Adams to ask him to marry them.
