1. What do we mean when we say English Literature?

When we talk about English literature, we mean the study of literature


written in the English language that teaches us to think critically about
complex topics from various perspectives. Furthermore, it broadens our
horizons, provides us with opportunities to develop transferable skills, and
provides us with exciting placement and travel opportunities. We'll be
studying English literature with the best of the best.

2. How are the stories of Anglos and the Saxons told since they did not
have any written language?

For me, during the Anglo-Saxon period, when written language did not
exist, I believe the stories of the Anglos and the Saxons were told orally,
such as through poetry or even through song specifically in highlighting
their cultures, because most of the people during of that specific era could
not read or even write.

3. What was the best-known literary contribution of the Anglo-Saxon


period?

The poem Beowulf was one of the most well-known literary


contributions during the Anglo-Saxon period because as what I’ve
remembered during my high school years, this poem typically
demonstrates or shows bravery, honor, and loyalty to his people and
having said that, Beowulf appears to be an excellent candidate for being a
role model for many, particularly during the Anglo-Saxon era. That’s why
Beowulf's poem is regarded as one of the greatest contributions of the
Anglo-Saxon period.
4. Who introduced political, social and educational reforms in the 9 th
century?

I think the one who introduced political, social and educational


reforms in the 9th century was Charlemagne.

5. Who started the trend of translating the Bible into English?

From what I recall, William Tyndale was the person who started the
trend of translating the Bible into English.

6. What event in England’s history changed the English language


drastically?

As what I’ve remembered, the “Norman Invasion” led by William the


Conqueror in 1066 was one of the major events in English history that
drastically altered the English language.

7. Which language exerted its influence on English and made it more


flexible?

For me, the Germanic language, also known as Old English, is the
language that had the most influence on English and made it more
adaptable.

8. The Elizabethan Age marked the beginning of what?

The Elizabethan Age marked the beginning of the golden age in


which during this era, England experienced peace and prosperity while the
art flourished.

9. What two historical forces shaped the thoughts and styles of the
writers of the Elizabethan period?

I think the two historical forces shaped the thoughts and styles of the
writers of the Elizabethan period were the style of the old Greek and
Roman open-air amphitheatres. 
10. Who was considered the superstar of the Elizabethan period?

As what I’ve learned from previous topics, Elizabethan Theater Actors


was considered the best superstar of the Elizabethan period.

11. Why Gerard Manley Hopkins was considered a modern poet


although he wrote during the Victorian period?

I think the reason why Gerard Manley Hopkins was considered a


modern poet although he wrote during the Victorian period maybe because
he was very creative poet and his style was so radically different from that
of his contemporaries.

12. Why do we say that American Literature did not spring out of
American soil?

Most of us could argue that American Literature did not spring from
American soil literally because it has become such a natural and
unavoidable entity to us people especially to those people who are very
genius in terms of understanding of American Literature.

13. What did Benjamin Franklin had as a writer that the Modern
reader would find affinity in spirit? 

Benjamin Franklin was the one who helped draft the Declaration of


Independence which made the modern reader find affinity in spirit.

14. Why were the New England writers considered the most
creative during the Creative Period in American Literature?  

For me, the New England writers considered the most creative during
the Creative Period in American Literature because their masterpiece were
remarkable and had enduring influenced of the American Literature.
15. Why was there a so-called “literary explosion” during the
Modern Period in American Literature?

For me, the reason why there was a so-called “literary explosion”
during the Modern Period in American Literature maybe because there
were many conflicts about with the diverse ideas of the writers especially
as well in accepting each masterpiece. Maybe some of the earliest forms of
American literature were pamphlets which one of the reason why there was
a so-called “literary explosion”.
