The tools used for data collection are a structured questionnaire used to find out the
knowledge level of the subjects.
The content validity of the data collection tool was established by10 experts including 5
Nursing Experts and 4 Cardiologist. The reliability of the tools was established. The final
study data was collected from April-May.......................
MAJOR FINDINGS OF THE STUDY
1. The findings regarding sample characteristics revealed that
There were 57 (57.0%) participants in the age group 20-25 years, 32 (32.0%)
participants in the age group 26-30 years, 10 (10.0%) participants were in the age group
31-35 years and 1 (1.0%) participant in the age group 36-45 years.
There were 43 (43.0%) males and 57 (57.0%) females in our study, showing a female
preponderance in comparison to the males.
Distribution according to the education showed that 36 (36.0%) participants had
completed their GNM, 14 (14.0%) participants had completed their Post-Basic B.Sc.
Nursing and 50 (50.0%) participants had completed their Basic B.Sc. Nursing. Majority
of the participants had done their Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
Distribution according to the experience in the critical care unit showed 44 (44.0%)
participants had more than 2 years of experience, 29 (29.0%) participants had more
than 4 years of experience, 20 (20.0%) participants had more than 6 years of
experience and 7 (7.0%) participants had more than 10 years of experience. Majority of
the participants had more than 2 years of experience.
There were 49 (49.0%) participants whose income was between Rs. 10-20, 30 (30.0%)
participants had income between Rs. 20-30, 19 (19.0%) participants had income
between Rs. 30-40 and 2 (2.0%) participants had an income between Rs. 40-50.
Majority of the participants had an income between Rs. 10-20.
There were 81 (81.0%) participants in the age group 20-25 years, 18 (18.0%)
participants in the age group 26-30 years, 1 (1.0%) participants were in the age group
31-35 years and none of the participants were in the age group 36-45 years.
There were 62 (62.0%) males and 38 (38.0%) females in our study, showing male’s
preponderance in comparison to the females.
Distribution according to the education showed that 43 (43.0%) participants had

Nursing and 48 (48.0%) participants had completed their Basic B.Sc. Nursing. Majority
of the participants had done their Basic B.Sc. Nursing.

than 4 years of experience, none of the participants had more than 6 years of

There were 80 (80.0%) participants whose income was between Rs. 10-20, 20 (20.0%)
participants had income between Rs. 20-30, none of the participants had income had
more than Rs. 30. Majority of the participants had an income between Rs. 10-20.
On the basis of the findings of the study, the following recommendations were offered
for future research.
• On the basis of the similar study may be replicated on large samples, thereby
findings can be generalized for a large population
• A similar study may be conducted to check the practice of staff nurses.
• Similar kind of studies can be undertaken in different settings.
• A comparative study may be conducted among the staff nurses of rural and
urban setting.
• A co-relational study may help to identify the relationships between knowledge
and attitude, and knowledge and practices/skill of nursing personnel's in the
management of modifiable risk factors for coronary artery disease.
