The Central Luzon has a very diverse cultural heritage and colorful traditions, owing to the

influence of colonizers in the 16th century and known for its surplus of rice production, but
difference among the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and
Zambales are still seen e.g. Pampanga is the first urbanized community because of the
extensive trade and wealth that happened in the early century. To the point that even ordinary
people are already wearing cotton clothing because people in the plain land were already
growing cottons and trading textile for rice from people in the highlands. While the Zambal and
Negritos’ clothing are mainly G-strings. These observations are not limited to their clothing but
also their cultures, religion, skills, weapons, attributes, physical appearance and class structures
although both were described as aggressive people.

The Northern Luzon Was then recognized by the colonizers because of it abundance in term of
its natural resources especially the gold. Because of these the people in the Northern Luzon or
so-called Igorot or People of the Mountain devoted their energies in mining, agriculture, and
animal husbandry. These people are also an enthusiast of their own traditions and myths that is
why Ifugao weavers are held in high esteem. But just like the people in central Luzon difference
are seen between these groups. These Communities adjust their attributes to their needs and
their mother land and it sometimes made them unique in their own way.
