Background
Over the years there have been reports and claims from some Marketing Companies
that highlighted a filling pipe and locking finger short lifetime issue when running
certain products under certain conditions. Premature failure has been caused by a
hammering effect on the involved components when running under those conditions.
There have also been reports about sterile air in packages, due to a loose connection
between upper and lower filling pipe, and overfilling problems. The position of the
O-ring between upper and lower filling pipe has therefore been changed.
Improvement
The new design of the locking fingers will prolong the lifetime of the fingers and the
pipes.
The introduction of a pin on the upper tube, which fits into a slot on the lower pipe, will
prevent the lower pipe to rotate. The pin also works as a mechanical stop when the
locking fork is worn out.
The kit will reduce the risk of sterile air getting into the packages or overfilling in the
tube, since the O-ring is mounted on the upper filling tube instead of being placed
between the pipes.
Recommended Activity
This B-upgrade should be installed when an upper or lower filling pipe needs to be
replaced. Parts belonging to the currently installed solution such as, o-ring, locking
pins, pressure flange and floater can still be ordered using existing part numbers and
hence the complete rebuilding kit will not be required when replacing these parts.
We strongly recommend that TPMS recommendations are followed; continuing
changing parts belonging to current solution as per specified intervals until upper or
lower filling pipe requires replacement.
See DF-1531145-0102 (010V) and RM-1531142-0102 (020V-030V) in the Technical
Publication Database. (Available from PIV, Product Information Viewer)
Expected Rebuilding time: 4 man hours
Expected Down Time on Equipment: 4 hours
NOTE! The following machines have the rebuilding kit implemented already. Please
register them as completed in R/3, Global Equipment Database.
NOTE! Prior to installation of a HVA kit, the UK Filling Pipe must be installed as well.
Technical Publication
Technical Publications (RM-1531142-0102 or DF-1531145-0102) will be included in
the kit box. A new issue of Operation Manual for the machine has to be ordered
separately by using the attached order form.
Availability
Information about price and delivery time is normally available in SAP R/3 and can be
viewed via SAPGUI.
Verification of installation
Market Companies must update their equipment masters in R/3.

Claim procedure
It has been decided to treat this corrective action with a unique possibility to claim the
cost (TP transfer price) of the upgrade kit, and expected rebuilding hours stated in this
Technical Bulletin, when experiencing pre-mature failure of the upper or lower filling
pipe. Defined pre-mature failure is below 10,000 running hours for the upper filling
pipe and 3,500 hours for the lower filling pipe. When claiming either lower or upper
filling pipe please state rebuilding kit number and number of hours worked.
The unique possibility to submit a claim, mentioned above, is valid for one (1) year
after publication of this Technical Bulletin and the upper and lower filling pipe will be
introduced on the Known-issue list, as of next release, during this period.
Order procedure
Price and availability information is available via SAP R3.
Request for quotation or orders should be sent to TSAB via ALE/EDI according to the
normal order process.
For manually placed orders, please use the manual order template. This is available
on TP Technical Service AB website.
