TYPES OF WRITING

In this slide we will be looking at types of writing. According to my research there

are 10 different types of writing. This consists of:

1) Narrative Writing

Narrative Writing basically means story writing. It can be fictional or non-fictional.

It can also occupy the space between these as a semi-autobiographical story,
historical fiction, or a dramatized retelling of actual events.

2) Descriptive Writing

Descriptive Writing classifies as a type of writing that describes a person, place or

things in such a way that it paints a clear picture in the reader’s mind.

3) Expository Writing

Expository Writing is a genre of essay that requires a person to investigate an idea,

evaluate evidence, expound on the idea, and set forth an argument concerning that

idea in a clear and concise manner.

4) Persuasive Writing

Persuasive writing is a form of nonfiction writing that encourages careful word

choice, the development of logical arguments, a cohesive summary and aims to

convince a certain point of view.

5) Creative Writing

Creative Writing is technically a fiction or poetry, which displays imagination or

invention (often contrasted with academic or journalistic writing).

6) Objective Writing

Objective writing is writing that can be verified through evidence and facts. The

writer remains neutral, and the information shared is free of bias, which is the

preference for one thing over another. Objective writing focuses on facts, statistics,

and research; these are often expressed in numbers or quantities and the source is

provided through a citation.

7) Subjective Writing

Subjective information or writing is based on personal opinions, interpretations,

points of view, emotions and judgment. It is often considered ill-suited for

scenarios like news reporting or decision making in business or politics. Objective

information or analysis is fact-based, measurable and observable.

8) Review Writing

Review writing is, unlike an original research article, it will not present new

experimental results.

9) Poetry Writing

Poetry writing is the literature that evokes a concentrated imaginative awareness of

experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged
for its meaning, sound, and rhythm.

10) Technical Writing

The traditional definition of technical writing is: Technical writing is the practice
of documenting processes, such as software manuals or instructional materials.
Traditionally, it was limited to user manuals of some sort
