PART 1| GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

A. Solar Shingle/Roofing System designed for sloped roof applications.

1. Solar Shingle/Roofing System shall be a turn-key engineering,


manufacturing and installation services as described in the
specification.

2. Solar Shingles shall be integrated as a part of the Mirage Collection

metal shingle system manufactured by Luma Solar or as per locally


available manufacturer.

3. The monocrystalline photovoltaic tempered glass module is adhered


to a custom formed metal shingle. A premium plastic edge protector
surrounds the glass to provide added durability. The junction box
located on the back is positioned in the center of the shingle allowing
equal length wires to run in either direction. 4-sided BIPV solar shingle
with internal splice plate for a continuous horizontal roof line.

4. BIPV solar shingles and non-BIPV solar shingles create a uniform single
element roof covering.

5. Solar Shingle System shall allow upgrade of the solar module without
changing the entire system.

1.5 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative


Requirements.

B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used,


including:

1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.

2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

3. Installation methods.

C. Shop Drawings:

1. Plan and elevations of pieces and parts labeled individually and


referenced to a material piece quantity log.

2. Installation sequence and piece marked placement of panels, metal


shingle components and flashing, clips and concealed accessories.

D. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples,


minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square representing actual product,
color, and patterns.

1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 15-year experience


manufacturing similar products.

B. Installer Qualifications: Minimum 5-year experience installing similar


products.

1.7 PRE-INSTALLATION MEETINGS

A. Convene minimum two weeks prior to starting work of this section.

1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging


bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready
for installation.

B. Handling: Handle materials to avoid damage.

1.9 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and


ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum
results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside
manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.10 SEQUENCING

A. Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in


time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.11 WARRANTY

A. Warranty: Provide manufacturer's standard limited warranty

1. Power: 25-Year Power Warranty.

2. Shingles: Limited Lifetime Warranty (Metal Shingle).

PART 2| EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

B. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify


Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the


manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the
project conditions.

C. Underlayment Installation:

1. Install underlayment while plywood is new and dry.

2. Cover entire Mirage Collection or as per locally available


manufacturer area with vapor barrier using Titanium PSU 30 or equal.

3. As installing LUMA Mirage Collection or as per locally available


manufacturer use GAF Deck Armor or equal over vapor barrier.

4. Sandwich metal flashing EM, REC, V24 between vapor barrier and
Deck Armor.

5. Ensure that all surfaces, penetrations, walls valleys are sealed prior to
shingles being installed.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, approved


submittals and in proper relationship with adjacent construction.

1. Standard shingles shall be the primary shingles that make up the roof.

2. Smaller shingles and open shingles shall be provided for cutting valleys
and hips.

3. Closures and finish flashing shall be provided.

4. Match an inverter to the solar shingle array.

B. Connecting the Array:

1. Use wiring methods in accordance with the National Electric Code


(NEC).

2. Ground array as recommended by manufacturer.

3. Link solar shingles as recommended by manufacturer.

4. Energize array and test for proper operation.

5. Adjust until satisfactory results are obtained.

3.4 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial


Completion.
