The researchers were tasked to write a letter of intent requesting the School

Head's permission to perform the study. The Lilo-an National High school’s school
head received and approved the letter of intent to perform the study. Upon
approval, the researchers started to make the prototype for the saltwater lamp.
The researchers had set aside a significant amount of time, effort, and
collaboration to construct and refine the model. The experiment conducted was
carried out to acquire data for the researcher’s utilization. The materials used
were salt and water solution as they conduct electricity; graphite rod and zinc
which were extracted from double AA batteries as electrodes that act as an
electrical conductor that makes the connection with a circuit's nonmetallic
component. Copper wires, as they allow more electricity to travel through them,
make them excellent for use in this experimentation. Lastly, the researchers have
utilized a 1.5 v LED light which produces lighting using the energy of the saltwater
solution.

First, the researchers made the main parts of the circuit using the
Graphite rod and Zinc plates, which were originally extracted from double AA
batteries which are the electrodes of the circuit. Afterward, the researchers
attached the copper wires respectively to each 3 graphite rods and 3 zinc plates.
Then, proceeded in creating the saltwater solution which has carried out by a
trial-and-error process through saltwater’s concentration by adding salt from
25%, 50%, and 75%. Furthermore, the researchers consulted and asked for some
help from an electrical expert who can share his knowledge and give us some
pieces of advice on how to make it precisely. The researchers utilized a digital
multimeter to measure the voltage of the whole model. With that, the
researchers were able to gather data precisely through acquiring knowledge and
skills which enables them to have the accurate strategies that have been greatly
helpful in performing the study.

Procedures for making the saltwater lamp

The following are the steps the researchers followed in making the saltwater
lamp:

1. Search for used double AA batteries at home or in your neighborhood. We

need 3 or more batteries for this experimentation.

2. Using very sharp scissors, cut the battery carefully.

3. Once you see the Graphite rod, use tweezers to get the rod slowly and remove
it from its position. Avoid getting it broken.

4. Set aside the body of the battery which we will utilize for it is the Zinc plate.

5. Attach the copper wires respectively to each of 3 graphite rods and 3 zinc
plates.

6. Prepare and clean the 3 glass containers because we will be going to proceed in
creating the saltwater solution.

7. Before adding the salt into the water, the researchers used a weighing scale in
measuring the accurate amount of grams needed.

8. Remember that this is a trial-and-error process in which we will going to

perform the saltwater concentration by adding salt from 25%,50%and 75%.
9. Place each pair of Zinc plates and Graphite rod in each glass respectively.
Merge them accordingly and properly. Using a digital multimeter, the researchers
have tested each concentration on its conduction to produce electricity.

10. Lastly, carefully prepare the 1.5 v LED light for connection.
