Main Objective: To determine the sitting time duration of online gamers and their awareness towards
the sitting disease and its health risks.

Specific Objectives:

1. Analyze the level of knowledge of the online gamers about the sitting disease and health-risks of
prolonged sitting.
2. Assess the understanding of online gamers towards the causes and effects of prolonged sitting in a
long run and;
3. Evaluate the respondents for the need of health education to provide preventive measures about the
sitting disease.

Related Literature and Studies

Sitting is associated with all-cause and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) mortality risk among the least
physically active adults; moderate-to-vigorous physical activity doses equivalent to meeting the current
recommendations attenuate or effectively eliminate such associations. Prolonged sitting, an
independent risk factor for disease development and premature mortality, is increasing in prevalence
in high- and middle-income countries, with no signs of abating. This study suggests that higher levels
of total daily sitting time are associated with an increased risk of CVD and diabetes, even after
adjustment for physical activity. In November 2015, data were gathered from one published meta-
analysis, 54 adult surveys on sitting time distribution (from 2002 to 2011), in conjunction with national
statistics on population size, life table, and overall deaths. Population-attributable fraction for all-cause
mortality associated with sitting time >3 hours/day was estimated for each country, WHO regions, and
worldwide. Gains in life expectancy related to the elimination of sitting time >3 hours/day was
estimated using life table analysis.
