2. Technical Debate
Artificial Intelligence

The scope of Artificial Intelligence in India is promising. Artificial Intelligence has immense
potential to change each sector of the economy for the benefit of society. There is not just one
technology under AI, but there are various useful technologies such as self-improving
algorithms, machine learning, big data, and pattern recognition. Soon, there would hardly be
any industry or sector which would be untouched by this powerful tool in India. This is the
reason why there has been an increasing demand for Artificial Intelligence online courses in
India. In general, AI systems work by ingesting large amounts of labeled training data,
analyzing the data for correlations and patterns, and using these patterns to make predictions
about future states. In this way, a chatbot that is fed examples of text chats can learn to
produce lifelike exchanges with people, or an image recognition tool can learn to identify and
describe objects in images by reviewing millions of examples. AI programming focuses on
three cognitive skills: learning, reasoning, and self-correction.

Physiological Measures

As drivers become drowsy, their head begins to sway and the vehicle may
wander away from the center of the lane. The previously described
vehicle-based and vision-based measures become apparent only after the
driver starts to sleep, which is often too late to prevent an accident.

However, physiological signals start to change in the earlier stages of

drowsiness. Hence, physiological signals are more suitable to detect
drowsiness with few false positives; making it possible to alert a drowsy
driver in a timely manner and thereby prevent many road accidents.

Many researchers have considered the following physiological signals to

detect drowsiness: electrocardiogram (ECG), electromyogram (EMG),
electroencephalogram (EEG), and electrooculogram (EoG). Some
researchers have used the EOG signal to identify driver drowsiness
through eye movements.
4. Idea Validation tool survey
4.1 Report on the survey

Technology advancements over the years have enabled smart vehicle systems to assist
drivers. Because drivers are frequently tired as a result of environmental conditions or mental
stress, if preventive measures are not taken before an accident occurs, serious injuries will
result. According to the survey, a driver drowsiness detection sensor is very important in
order to reduce the number of accidents that occur. In the last two decades, there has been
extensive research and a number of research papers have proposed possible methodologies to
detect inattentiveness and drowsiness in a driver. Traditional techniques based on
physiological measurements such as brain waves, heart rate, pulse rate, and respiration are
developed. These techniques, however, are intrusive in nature.
According to the survey, previous systems used artificial intelligence and computer vision
algorithms to detect driver fatigue. In practice, several vision-based techniques for detecting
fatigue have been proposed in the past. Changes in weather conditions, environmental
parameters, and long-distance driving are some of the factors that contribute to drowsiness,
according to previous research. Although cutting-edge Driver Drowsiness Detection systems
are considered effective and reliable during the day, they produce subtle results when driving
at night.

And hence, the need to develop this detection system is high and the survey proves its need in
our life.
4.2 5W1H MODEL

WHY - In recent years, driver drowsiness has been one of the major causes of
road accidents and can lead to severe physical injuries, deaths, and significant
economic losses. A driver who falls asleep at the wheel loses control of the
vehicle, an action which often results in a crash with either another vehicle or
stationary objects. In order to prevent these devastating accidents, the state of
drowsiness of the driver should be monitored.
WHAT - The driver drowsiness detection sensor system is a system that alerts
the driver before a mishap occurs A vehicle safety device called driver
sleepiness detection aids in preventing incidents that could have been avoided.
According to some studies, weariness may play a role in up to 50% of traffic
accidents overall and 20% of them on some highways.
WHEN - Such a device is necessary while driving an automobile. You might
never know when the driver of the car falls asleep. For instance, if you hire a
cab, you must completely rely on the driver to provide you with a safe trip, but
this isn't guaranteed, so every automobile needs these kinds of sensor systems to
lower the risk of collisions and provide a safe journey.
WHERE - Primarily uses steering input from the electric power steering
system. Uses a lane monitoring camera. Monitoring a driver this way only
works as long as a driver actually steers a vehicle actively instead of an
automatic lane-keeping system. Uses computer vision to observe the driver's
face, either using a built-in camera or on mobile devices.
WHO - Such a technique can be used by many types of drivers, including taxi
drivers and people who drive their own cars, to ensure a safe journey. As
developers, we ensure that this device operates correctly to prevent interruptions
after installation.
5. Research Methodology

A detailed understanding of algorithm for the working of accident sdetection is shown below.

The above Diagram explains how different factors can be considered at the driver’s level of
authentication. Not only the factors surrounding the driver are important but also then vehicle
and traffic factors are supposed to be considered. We chose to focus on the drowsiness
detection which is a major contribution to the increasing numbe rof accidents.
