SEPAK TAKRAW MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES


Sepak Takraw, a popular game of Southeast Asia, is also called a kick volleyball. Sepak means
kick, and Takraw means Woven ball. The game is all about kicking a woven ball using the head, chest,
knee, feet, etc. The rules and regulations are similar to those of volleyball. Due to its popularity, the
game is included in the Asian Games. Here you would gain a clear understanding of the main objective
of the games and its basic rules.

OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME

The main objective of the game is to kick the ball to the other side of the net within
the boundary of the opponent team. The ball should not be touched with the hands. A
chance of three touches with head chest, feet, etc. are allowed to kick the ball to reach the
other side. The team with a maximum number of point would win the game. Committing a
fault by a team would offer a point to the opponent team. The players must try to manage
the ball aloft in the right manner.

BASIC RULES

The following are some of the basic rules to be followed when playing Sepak Takraw.

 Two teams must play the game each containing 4 players, and 1 is for substitution.

 The court size and markings of the court must be based on the official regulations
for playing a Sepak Takraw game.

 The serving chance is decided by tossing of coin before the start of the game. And
have a chance to choose the court and can decide the first ball.

 Head, knees, chest or feet can only touch the ball; when other parts of the body
touch the ball, then your opponent team would be awarded a point.

 Usually, points are awarded based on opposition faulting.

 The team with 15 points on a set would win the particular set. The team wins the
first two set is the winner of the game. Best of 3 game.

 Change court every 7 points per set.

 The decision of the officiating officer is final and irrevocable.
