The video showed us on how to use new navigational equipment around the
bridge . This vlog is advantageous for all the aspiring seafarer especially for deck
cadet like me to have some knowledge and get some ideas on how to perform as a
deck officer someday. The third officer showing us the s-band and x-band radar, he
said that x-band is effective for traffics especially like fishing boats while s-band is to
detect longer range. What I like about the video is how they explained thoroughly
and perform the equipment how it really works . ECDIS appeared also in the video
and explained to us which is outstanding. GMDSS ( Global Maritime Distress Safety
System ) used for receiving warnings, emergency signals and communication. We
can also make a call here as what the third mate said. Search and Rescue
Transponder (SART) , Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) explained
also how this equipment work.

Third Officer shares what he observed about his crew member that mostly
they not aware of poster that posted somewhere , but some aspirant cadet wanted
to be an officers they have time to study. I like how the vlogger try the steering
equipment and the third mate gives a command, it gives more confidence to me that
I can also do that thing . It look more easy to me. I learned that being a an officer is
not what others think about. Being an officer should be skillful and knowledgeable to
all equipment you use in your work. In the reason that all crew member are also
depending on you. You are the one who’s Incharge in making way. One mistake you
make put all crew members in danger. The last part is great way to end the video,
he do a montage of the ship while making way. It just so good to see the clouds and
the ocean meets. Hoping one day that I will experience this . I do learn a lot of things
in the video presented , it gives me more idea what are the equipment need to learn
onboard. One thing it gives me off in the video is the audio. While the third mate is
speaking , I can’t clearly hear what is he talking about but overall, it was an great and
informational video.
