1. Describe the background of Rizal's ancestry that might have contributed to his life and
education.

Being born into a wealthy household allowed Rizal the opportunity to receive an education that few
others can due to unstable finances. In addition, Rizal's life was impacted by his huge, adoring family, his
love of nature, which is evident from the breathtaking landscape that surrounds their home, and his
mother's lessons on many religions. Rizal's forefathers have gained notoriety ever since he was born.
They frequently attend a well known school in Biñan and perform exceptionally well in Latin and
Spanish, especially Jose Rizal, who was identified as having significant promise at a young age.

2. Compare the experience of Rizal as a student in Ateneo Municipal, UST and in Madrid.

Answer:

Rizal, a genius since he was a child, has always been eager to pick up new skills. He pursued a Bachelor
of Arts degree at his first university, Ateneo, to fulfill his interest for the humanities. He started out
behind his peers in class, but with his commitment to learning, he became the most outstanding person
in just one month and graduated with the highest honors. He was given the nickname "the Emperor" for
being the most outstanding person. Then he went to UST to study medice for his mother, but he was
less active at Ateneo. He traveled while pursuing his studies at the Ateneo de Madrid in French, English,
and German. Rizal was considered to be a great student who, considering the challenges he faced, never
gave up until he finished what he began.

3. Who were the important persons that influenced Rizal in his intellectual pursuits?

He was greatly influenced by Paciano, Rizal's brother, in his pursuit of knowledge. Rizal listened to him
as if he were his second parent during his mentorship of him. Although he had other tutors who had an
impact on his schooling, Leon Monroy was the one who truly pushed him academically and helped him
improve his reading, writing, and Basic Latin abilities. Of all the people who had been with him, Rizal's
mother, Doña Teodora Alonso, had the most impact on his scholastic endeavors; by his guidance, Rizal
had cultivated his love for all forms of art and the lovely natural surroundings that they were in. He
looked around him as she attracted his attention to it.

4. What were Rizal's activities in Dapitan and their impact?

Dapitan served as Rizal's den for three years after being arrested. There, where he first met his wife
Josephine Bracken, he continues to study medicine while helping people and treating their illnesses. He
completed a variety of construction projects while he was there, including the construction of schools,
hospitals, a water irrigation system, and lampposts on every corner. Due to his involvement in Dapitan,
Rizal became more active in his profession, which enabled him to assist more people and better the
situation in Dapitan. Rizal made time for both his medical job and his artistic endeavors, including poetry
writing, painting, sculpture, and drawing. One creation that has had an impact and is still in use today is
the massive relief map of Mindanao that spans the entire plaza and is used by him to teach geography.

5. How would you assess Rizal's objection to the revolution?

He opposed the revolution because he believed that for reforms to be successful, they needed to
originate from above. Because this was the prevailing belief of the class to which Rizal belonged, it is
perhaps understandable why the hero had such notions.
