"New Normal: The Impact of Modular Learning
Proposed Research Topic/Title
Education"
In the Philippines, attempting to push through education
in the new normal is a difficult endeavor amid.
According to Magsambol (2020), there is a significant
gap between those who can pay the money needed to
access the current education platform and those who
cannot. The general situation of children in the public
education system communicates a message of injustice,
contradicting the DepEd's mantra, "no child left behind."
Contrarily, training cannot be suspended as much as the
economy would want. In the Philippines, educational
Trends institutions such as DepEd for primary education and
CHED for higher education have advocated for distance
learning as an example of a flexible learning strategy that
includes blended, online, remote, modular, and the
combination of these during epidemic times (DepEd,
2020; CHED, 2020). Despite the fact that online learning
is the best substitute, due to its immature state, learning
cannot deliver the expected results. because of issues
with slow internet and poverty (Adnan & Anwar, 2020).
Others switched to online learning as a result, including
modular education (Toquero, 2021).
Following the temporary closure of schools due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, there were numerous changes in
Issues the state of education. Educational institutions switched
from traditional face-to-face teaching to modular
distance learning, which left both teachers and students
underprepared, if not completely unprepared (Cabardo,
2022). According to Dargo & Dimas (2021), there is a
decrease in the GWA of learners after the
implementation of MDL, which indicates a significant
difference in their academic performance. Moreover, it

adds to the workload of working parents, there is little
teacher-learner interaction, learners lack socialization
with other children, and they are not exposed to
significant school activities but are instead exposed to
numerous distractions at home.
Specific issue that the proposed study would like to be
given emphasis:
Modular learning might have impacted the students'
futures so it's crucial to comprehend what modifications
should be made to the modular learning system in order
to improve it.
The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of
modular learning, with the following goals in mind:
To identify the impacts of modular learning
Objectives To know the advantages and disadvantages of
modular learning.
To determine whether or not students gained
knowledge through modular learning.
This will help so that the public can also learn things
about the impact of modular learning on students,
especially during this time of pandemic. This study could
be a way for society to know how the implementation of
modular learning has helped students in their studies
Contribution even if they are not in school. This study will help
students to cultivate their experiences in stimulating their
knowledge by having a modular distance learning
education. This also helps because they can spend more
time on things that they need to focus on, such as helping
their parents with household chores and many others.
Research Methodology Quantitative Research – Descriptive Research
There will be 100 respondents who will be selected via
Purposive sampling technique.
The instrument will be a structured interview (close-
ended survey questionnaire) to be validated by research
experts.
Data will be collected utilizing online platforms (google
form, messenger, and the like).

Various ethics in research will be considered in the
conduct of the study.
Data gathered will be analyzed through Descriptive
Statistics.
