Series and Compound Loadsharing

Parallel LoadSharing
For example, when talking about Parallel Load-Balancing, what you

Parallel LoadSharing
How does it work?

Loadsharing:
1. Master Calculates its CR (Control response (PID))
2. Master Sends it to all L/S controllers. This adjusts the speed (increase/decreae) for all
compressors if eth DEV is +tive and opens the A/S valve if teh DEV is -tive.

Loadbalancing:
1. A/S calculates its S (DEV),
2. A/S sends it to its companion L/S
3. L/S calculates the highest S (lowest DEV) and send it to Master
4. Master average all S from all L/S controllers
5. Master sends the average as a LoadBalancing Setpoint (LB_SP) to
all L/S controllers
Parallel LoadSharing
Series LoadSharing (more than one
driver per train)

– RC (Compressor Ratio)
– N (Speed)
– IGV

1. Four parallel Trains (LP and HP)

2. Two GT drivers for each train:
– One GT for the LP machine,
– One GT for the HP machine.

Leader-Follower scheme

• Parallel Group Load Balancing

– The parallel group leaders are load balanced with each other based
on proximity to surge S
• Series Load Balancing Within Group
– The follower Load Sharing controllers are series loadbalanced with
the group leader based on Load L
• The Load-Sharing Leader-Follower control scheme will achieve the
following condition:

Rc(LP-1)=a∗
∗Rc(HP-1)

where a=1 if the LP machines are the same size and power as the HP
machines. a is a function.

L=a*N + b*OUT
(L is N or Rc or IGV if DEV is +tive...Balance the network based on N)
(L is OUT if eh DEV is –tive...Balance the network based on OUT)
