Parties by Sandy Smith

I like parties because I can talk with my friends, eat good food and dance. I also like preparing
for parties. It’s fun to write invitations, cook food and plan the music and games.

Theme parties are my favourite. You choose a theme for your party, and your friends wear clothes
to match the theme. You can also decorate the party room and have good food and music with the
same theme. Fancy dress parties, funny hat parties and pyjamas parties are also great fun!

My friends and I also like sleep-over parties. At sleep-over parties my girlfriends eat and play
games in my bedroom. Then they sleep at my house. Of course, we go to sleep very late because we
tell stories and talk about friends for a long time.

Outdoor parties are also good, but you need good weather! My family and friends often have a
barbecue in the garden. My dad makes hamburgers, sausages and chicken. Food always tastes
fantastic outdoors! We eat, then we play games. Sometimes my friends and I sleep in tents in the
garden after these parties.

Tonight is my birthday party and the theme is China. My parents are cooking Chinese food - a stir
fry, rice, fortune cookies. I’m cleaning the house, decorating the party room and making my costume.
I’m having fun!
