1. Why are samples used in statistics?

In statistics, a sample is crucial for obtaining significant data regarding
populations. samples are useful because in order to to call some data about a larger
population. You need to you need to spend a lot of time collecting individual data for
each and in all of everybody in the population. For example if you have people in the
country and collect so much more data. But with samples you can just take a subset of
it which is randomly selected. And then you can use that to estimate the general
behavior.
2. Suggest some ways that statistics can be used in everyday life.
There are a lots of ways where statstics use iin everyday life asuch us health
insurance companies often where hey often use statistics and probability to determine
how likely it is that certain individuals will spend a certain amount on healthcare each
year. For example, an actuary at a health insurance company might use factors like
age, existing medical conditions, current health status, etc. to determine that there’s a
80% probability that a certain individual will spend P10,000 or more on healthcare in
a given year.
     a) Based on a study of 2121 children between the ages of one and four,
researchers at the Medical College of Wisconsin concluded that there was an
association between iron deficiency and the length of time that a child is bottle-
fed (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, November 26, 2005). Describe the sample and
the population of interest for this study.

Answer:
The sample consist of 2121 children between the ages of one and four selected
for the study and the population consist of all children between the ages of one and
four .

    b) The supervisors of a rural county are interested in the proportion of
property owners who support the construction of a sewer system. Because it is
too costly to contact all 7000 property owners, a survey of 500 owners (selected at
random) is undertaken. Describe the population and sample for this problem.

Answer:
The term "population" refers to a grouping of people or things that make up
the study's subjects and are connected by some characteristic. The term "sample"
refers to a clearly defined portion of the population used to study the population's
various characteristics. The sample is used to draw conclusions about the population
because studying the entire population would take more time, money, and effort.
Based on a sample of 500 possessors, conclusions are to be drawn about 7000
possessors. Thus, there are 7000 house owners in the country who are being watched
over as a population.
