Set the correct date, time, and time zone
Assign a static IP address.

• Review IPv4 addressing scheme

• Decide on a subnet to be used


Assigning a Computer Name

• You should devise a naming scheme for your servers

• Servers name cannot contain some extended


characters such as! @ \ / : etc.

• Windows won’t even allow you to type in prohibited


chars
Configuring and Installing Updates
User Account Control (UAC)
• User Account Control (UAC) is a feature that helps prevent
unauthorized changes to your computer, especially by malicious
software that can potentially affect your computer’s operation.

To enable or Disable UAC

• In Control Panel, click User Accounts.

• Click the Change User Account Control settings

• Then slide the slider to the appropriate option level

• Depending on the role being installed, follow the on-
screen instructions to complete the process
