INTRODUCTION:

The contention that superstition and religion are fundamentally distinct beliefs is frequently
made by particular adherents of various religious faiths. But how do these two differ from one
another and how do they affect each other? With more than a billion members, the Roman
Catholic Church has long been regarded as the largest Christian denomination in the world. The
word "faith" typically conjures up images of the church, whose members include everyone from
the apostles of Jesus Christ, who founded the church, to bishops, priests, and anyone else who
considers themselves a follower of Jesus up to the present day.

The Philippines is the most Catholic country on the continent of Asia thanks to its 83% Catholic
population. However, the nation is not only dominated by Catholicism but also home to an
infinite number of superstitions and beliefs. The country's various provinces and regions have
seen a steady rise in the number of superstitions and beliefs.

These are thought to have originated from various sayings and superstitions that the Filipino
people's ancestors used to try to keep them safe or keep them from doing certain things.
These beliefs have already been ingrained in the culture of the people, and they have been
influenced by their traditions and customs. The Filipinos' beliefs in supernatural beings and other
kinds of superstitions are ingrained in a person's way of life from the time they become pregnant
to the time they give birth, marry, and die.

BODY:

As a result, these practices are thought to be rooted in the religious beliefs, opinions, and/or
actual experiences of those who practice them. They also show how people think about the
unknown and how it can be used to please the gods who control the future. In historical context,
the term "superstition" is frequently used to denigrate common beliefs that are deemed irrational,
which typically results in some superstitions being referred to as "old wives tales."In addition, it
is frequently used to describe beliefs and practices regarding luck, prophecy, and spiritual beings,
particularly the irrational belief that specific factors can influence or predict future
events.unrelated events in the pastNow that Catholicism has arrived, it contradicts how the
Catholic faith is supposed to be practiced in most ways, and that superstition has been given the
wrap.

The Catholic faith's second commandment implies:You will not worship any other gods than
me.But the majority of these people's superstitions involve believing in supernatural beings like
dwarves, black-haired giants, evil creatures, witches, and enchanted ones.Typically, parents or
grandparents tell children stories about these creatures, especially at night. So, while going to
church every Sunday and every day is something they consider an obligation to praise God, some
of these people also believe that, in addition to Jesus Christ, there are those creatures that live
around them. So, how does their faith keep them from getting distracted? Are these beings causing
disagreements between the congregation's beliefs and the sermons they are hearing? There is
always a solid, reasonable foundation for genuine faith.

CONCLUSION:

It's just a well-established trust. Therefore, when it is stated that, in contrast to faith, superstition
has no substantial basis; Since neither of its conclusions can be drawn logically, there should be
an alternative to adhering to both beliefs. The true meaning of faith is seen by the faithful.
Someone can't really say they have faith when they have doubts because they are so confused.

A Catholic who believes in superstitions cannot claim to be a strong believer at the same time
because superstitions are defined, have no solid foundation, and frequently conflict with the
church's definition of real faith.Since the Philippines is regarded as the most Catholic country in
Asia and has a lot of superstitions, it should be studied more to learn more about its people's
religiosity and superstitions.
