CURRICULUM FET: MEDIATION OF 2023/2024 REVISED ANNUAL TEACHING PLANS

The National Subject Committees have revised the Recovery ATPs during October 2022. The
Curriculum FET Directorate of the WCED has planned to mediate the 2023/2024 Revised Annual
Teaching and Assessment Plans (RATPs) using the Microsoft Teams platform to all Grade 10 to 12
subject teachers.

After careful consideration of several factors and the acknowledgement of the deliverables during
the fourth term, the mediation of the RATPs will take place on Saturday, 12 November from 09:00 to
approximately 12:00. A mediation session for a few subjects will take place on Thursday, 10 November
from 14:00 to approximately 17:00. Teachers who teach more than one subject will have access to
recordings of the mediation sessions.

It is critical that subject teachers understand the RATPs to enable them to plan appropriately for the
2023 academic and ensure compliance to policy. All changes to content and assessment will be
explained and clarified during the mediation session to ensure effective implementation.

It is important that all Departmental Heads and Grades 10 to 12 subject teachers attend these subject
sessions. We recommend that principals and deputy principals attend one of the subject meetings.
Kindly ensure that this communication is distributed to principals of all schools including independent
schools to ensure that they plan for participation in the roadshow. Subject advisers should distribute
and advocate this information to their subject teachers using means of communication at their
disposal.

Your full cooperation in ensuring all teachers participate in these mediation sessions is greatly
appreciated.
