I. Rationale :
“The first duty of a man is his self-development.” This old saying is precious and until
today is true. Aside from the innate talent and skill of an individual, he must learn all the basic
skills that he need to equip himself for the acquiring new knowledge, skills and learning.
To be able to catch new skills and knowledge there must someone to teach an individual
so that he can learn by his own. An individual of this era must learn the basic skills such as
reading, writing and counting at a young age. These skills are very important before he/she go
through regular schooling.

The project (Sumulat, Bumasa at Magbilang) SBM sa Phase 2 Extention Mabuhay City
aims to develop the basic skills in writing, reading and counting on the young children of the
Extention Mabuhay City community. This is to prepare them for their formal schooling. In
addition, those children who are struggling to their numeracy and literacy skills are also the
target of this project.

II. Project Objectives

SBM sa Phase 2 Extention aims to,
1. Develop the basic reading skills, basic writing skills and counting skill of the young
children of the community.
2. Improve the five basic macro skills such as reading, listening, writing, speaking and
watching.
3. Enhance the personal and interpersonal facets of an individual.
4. Build better vocabulary.
5. Inculcate good values using thematic short stories.
6. Cultivate the study habit of the toddlers.

III. Project Description

The proponents will conduct the project SBM sa Phase 2 Extention in Phase 2 Extention
Mabuhay City community. This project will start in November 15, 2022 and will end by October
2023. All the needed materials will be shouldered by the team, the food as well of the children.
Project will be conducted every Saturday and Sunday morning, 8 am to 12 Noon at Phase 2
Extension. Children’s progress will be recorded and documented. After a year children are
expected to be ready for their formal schooling in K to 12 curriculums.

IV. Project Outcome

As stated in the project objectives, the outcome will benefit children by improving their
basic learning skills such as five macro skills, vocabulary, study habit and personal and
interpersonal skills. It is also expected that children after this project are ready to take formal
schooling in K to 12 curriculums.
