NAGA CENTRAL SCHOOL II & NAGA CITY SPED CENTER

Schools Division Superintendent
Division of City Schools
City of Naga

Sir:

Good day!

The Naga Central School II and Naga City Sped Center aim to provide quality education for their pupils. The
schools not only aim for the quality facilities that are conducive to learning, holistic growth of each pupil,
inclusive education but also aim to continue to strengthen the school relationship towards stakeholders,
parents, local government units, private institution, government agencies and other organizations that would
help prepare public school facilities (Brigada Eskwela), support and help improve learning for both learners and
the community (Brigada Eskwela Plus) and help learners read and become functionally literate (Brigada
Pagbasa). The Naga Central School II and Naga City Sped Center have been implementing the Brigada Eskwela
Program of the Department of Education.

In view of this, the proponent would like to propose virtual training webinar that is anchored to Batas
Pambansa 232 “An act providing for the establishment and maintenance of an integrated system of education”
and deals to the duties and obligation of Parents. Parents and Teachers partnership in teaching kindergarten
learners to read is one of the important steps to help young learners to be functionally literate. However, the
shift to distance teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic brought about a real challenge for
teachers, parents and learners especially in teaching children beginning reading. Thus, being aware of the
benefits of parent involvement, this webinar will equip the parents to be a READING TEACHER at home. Topics
will help them to understand deeper the behavior of the learners, their needs, strategies to help learners learn
skills in reading, The Role of Parents in Reading Development and Importance of Reading at Home, Pre-reading
skills, The Big Six of Reading and a Demo Teaching Video Lesson.

The objectives of this project are the following:

1. To educate the parents on how to be a reading teacher at home;
2. To provide reading materials and video lesson that can be used by struggling, frustration,
instructional, and independent readers;
3. To encourage people to support and participate in the school’s program and activities like
Brigada Eskwela, Brigada Eskwela Plus, Brigada Basa and Project W.A.T.C.H. which will
help experience the joy of “BAYANIHAN” among teachers, parents, stakeholders for the
benefit of the school learners.
4. To make parents be aware of their great role and responsibility to a child’s learning and of the
benefits or effects of a good home -school relationship to their child’s school performance.

Attached is the project proposal.

We hope this request merits your kind approval. Thank you and May our Almighty bless us all.

Very truly yours,

JULIET C. CURVA, Ph. D.
