Alexander Shovkovsky

Alexander Shovkovsky was born on January 2, 1975 in Kyiv.


Height: 191 cm, weight 85 kg.
Nationality: Ukrainian
Position: goalkeeper
In 1981 entered the first grade of 170 school in Minsky district of Kyiv. In 1982
started to play football for Chayka, the first coach was Grygoriy Sergiyovich
Matienko.
In 1983 moved from Chayka to Dynamo where was trained
by Alexander Fedorovich Chubarov.
In 1985 with Anatoly Mykolayovich Kroschenko’s coming
bekame goalkeeper and the captain of junior Dynamo team.
From December 1992 started to play in professional
team Dynamo-2 and since December 1993 began professional
carrier at Dynamo Kyiv.

Shovkovsky is Dynamo player since 1993.


The first appearance in Ukrainian premier division was on March 6, 1994 in the
match against Kremin Kremenchuk (Dynamo - Kremin 1-1).
Debuted in the Champions League on August 10, 1994 ( Silkeborg – Dynamo 0-0).
Gained the first cap playing for Ukrainian national team on November 13,
1994 ( Ukraine – Estonia 0-0).
A. S. rewarded with an order For Deserts of the third degree
by the Ukrainian government.
He voted the best goalkeeper of the country in 1999, 2003 and
2004. In the nomination the best player of Ukraine took the second
and the third places.
On the list of the best Ukrainian players possessed the first place in 1996/97,
1997/98, 1999 and the second in 2000.
The best goalkeeper of CIS champions Cup (1997).
The best player of CIS champions Cup (1998).
The best goalkeeper of Makarov Memorial tournament.
In Ukrainian premier division played 257 matches and conceded 152 goals (without
conceding a single goal in 144 games). Played 38 matches in Ukrainian Cup and
conceded 15 goals (kept the goal untouched in 28 matches). Played 3 matches in
Ukrainian SuperCup and conceded 2 goals. In European cups played 84 matches,
conceded 101 goals (in 22 matches did not concede a goal).
He played 73 matches for Ukrainian national team, соnceded 51 goals (without
conceding a single goal in 40 games).
A. S. played for the youth national team (12 matches, conceded 12 goals).
10-time Ukrainian champion: 1993/94, 1994/95, 1995/8 1996/97, 1997/93,
1998/29, 1999/2000 2000/01, 2002/03 and 2003/04.
