Reflection on Future Lecture 1

Nowadays, the whole world is suffering due to this ongoing pandemic. In which
because of this, many worldwide activities are being affected such as the education and
physical activities of people specially in sports. These are few of the rest of the effects of
this Covid 19 pandemic, in which this could have been lessen the effects or even
prevented this from happening if only we could have been more ready and prepared.
From the video that I have seen, there are thoughts there that I would agree to
Mr. Bill Gates regarding as he tackles about the prevention and planning on becoming
prepared in the future regarding global catastrophe. He gives some of examples of this
such as the Nuclear War, Ebola Virus and the Spanish Flu in 1918. He even said that we
could have been prevented it or be prepared for it because we have the advancement in
science and technology. In his speech, he compared the preparation in war and in these
kinds of global catastrophe. Additionally, He explains one by one the things that we need
to be prepared in an epidemic. In which he also discuss a prediction towards the next
epidemic and that we should prioritize the things that would be beneficial unto us being
prepared in the future instead of some other things that is less relevant.
In conclusion, I think we failed to be prepared because as you can see, its has
been a year since the beginning of this ongoing pandemic and though we are slowly
coping with it, I am thinking that if we and our government foresee and been prepared
of these things, it would lessen the damage. Though it is not too late, with the help of
science and technology, we will survive and eventually put an end to this pandemic. Just
trust and have faith to the Almighty God.
