ANNEX 6 Guidelines in Listening to Voice of

Learners and Other Stakeholders

GUIDELINES IN LISTENING TO THE VOICE OF THE

LEARNERS AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS

Surveys and interviews are essential in research. As such, they are also substantial in identifying Priority Improvement Areas
(PIAs) on our stakeholder’s side. From these steps, we are able to gather varied and concrete evidences straight from the mouth of the
parents/guardians and students. The scope of our analysis is widened and deepened as each of them shared to us their ideas regarding
school and even to us their everyday living.
To gather first hand data, Tagjaguimit team conducted a house to house survey and interview April and May of this year. The team
has visited mainly nine standpoints, namely: Argonex (boundary of Alpaco and Tagjaguimit), Nangka Polinar, Tagbu – ag Tubig, Ilaya, Centro,
Upper and Lower, Cambaje and Punod. The team personally visited the places and simultaneously do the questioning, the team also
coordinated to the barangay for further assistance. It was a systematized plan and was executed swiftly. After the mapping, survey and
interview, we gather the data and started to work on or School Improvement Plan.
From the survey, we have known that our stakeholders (e.g. students and parents) have different needs and it is important for us
to understand these differences to help them satisfy these needs. It is vital for these stakeholders to state themselves in identifying their
needs. When they relate to us in their own words what their needs or issues are, we were able to get new ideas and somehow learn to deeply
understand their situation. They have different ways of sharing to us what they need. We learned to scrutinize what they truly mean by
asking follow up questions. We also asked for some interventions done by the student concerned, the family and lastly, the school.
In general, it was beneficial for both the school and the stakeholders to share to each other what their sentiments are. There was a
mutual agreement of helping and supporting one another to alleviate the current situation. During the course of mapping and interview, we
learned to understand where these stakeholders are coming from, their struggles and weaknesses, the kind of community they belong and
the root cause of such failure and needs. On our part, it made us widen our horizon to realities of life and urged us to think of ways of how we
could help address those needs. A bigger but worthwhile task is laid to us; those are to devise ways on how we could improve our institution
to better assist our learners.
