Science Write up

Speed is how fast an object is moving. Velocity is the speed in a direction,

acceleration is a change in speed, Gs means gravity and free fall is fall with no
forces. Inertia is an object's resistance to change in movement net force is all
forces acting on an object canceling out and showing the moth powerful one.
Acceleration is directly proportional to the net force and inversely proportional to
the mass of an object. Every time you act on something it acts back with an
equal force.

Dynamics:
Building on your mathematical work, and applying your data (angle or maximum
height, altimeter reading, video footage) you will calculate several components of
the motion of your rocket:

6 frames/ 0.2 seconds 187ft/s up 930.5ft/s/s 29Gs this assumes that no wind
affected the rocket
46.75 feet per second without drag and exact gravity

467.5 ft/s^2 air resistance not taken into acount

For each of these calculations, discuss simplifications and assumptions.

Kinematics:

Building on your dynamics work in the previous section, you will also calculate
and describe the forces acting on the rocket at several points during its launch
and flight:

The net force on takeoff of the rocket was about 20 newtons you want less mass
during takeoff so that it gains speed faster.

Gravity pulls it down and it reaches a net zero force and the forces pulling down
on it our rocket fall. Less mass makes a parachute more efficient ours did not
have a successful deployment so it fell much faster.

40 newtons. Gravity pushed rocket into the ground the ground gives a force
normal reaction.
Using the calculations and values above, you need to construct numerically
accurate and complete free-body diagrams to help describe the forces acting on
the rocket system during the:

Teamwork and the Engineering Design Process:

Reflect on your teamwork, leadership, and application of the EDP by responding

to the prompts below:
● How did you and your partner(s) function as a team? Were there conflicts
or issues, and how did you overcome them? If you had no conflicts or
issues, what did you do to enable this?
We did not work well together and we had some issues. The First problem
we had was that we had poor communication with each other which caused
some problems for us. We were unable to solve this problem because I was too
busy and concentrated on building the rocket and kind of dominated the project
when I could have had my partner's help.
● In what capacity were you a leader in your group? How about a follower?
Did you support your partner’s strengths and fill in for their weaknesses?
Explain.
I was not a leader in my group. This was because I wasn't a good
communicator and tried to do everything by myself and did not answer my
partner’s questions when he asked them.
● Identify where in the seven steps of the Engineering Design Process you
were successful and where you struggled. Give concrete examples of
your application of the process.
(The seven steps: Ask, Research, Imagine, Plan, Create, Test, Improve)
Ask: We did well with this and asked the right questions
Research: We found many designs we wanted to try but they were too
complicated
Imagine: we made an ok blueprint of the rocket we wanted to make
Plam: Our original design needed materials we did not have
Create: I made an ok rocket but I sort of dominated the construction and it was a
poor design
Test: We tested it a lot and took all of our failures into consideration
Improve: with what we witnessed during the tests I made some improvements to
our rocket.
● Pick one lesson you reflected on above, or something new that you
learned during this project, and discuss how this lesson will aid you in your
future goals beyond the fields of physics, engineering, and mathematics
(or in them, if you are considering a STEM career).
In this project, I learned that I am quite poor at group work and I could have done
a better job at letting my partner help. First off I was not very accepting of help when
building the rocket and I was very poor at communicating in a manner that was not sort
of angry. In the future, I need to work on that and let my partner do half of the work they
need to do instead of freaking out and trying to do it all.
