Pre-Zoom Questions #1
1. This lesson relates to the Astronomy section of our science curriculum. More specifically, my lesson is
part of the Earth, sun, and moon system unit.

2. This lesson fits into the classrooms learning as a continuation of our lessons on the Earth, sun, and
moon unit. Students previously learned about the moon phases and astronomy vocabulary.

3. The 8th graders are overall a good group of students. The only real behavioral issues seen are
interruptions while we are talking or doing something they are not supposed to do (such as drawing
during a lesson). There is a handful of students who have special needs. I was never specifically told what
caused them to be in the special education program, but I do know that four have disabilities that makes
them unable to complete the same work (or most of the work) as the rest of the class. They usually require
an alternate assignment.

4. The learning outcome for my lesson expects students to create a model of either a solar or lunar eclipse.
In order to do this, students should have an understanding of the eclipse they chose.

5. I will engage students by providing attention grabbing videos of eclipse and having them share and
discuss throughout the lesson. There will be opportunities for them to share to the whole class. Students
will work individually on the model making and will participate in discussions as a whole group. They
will have a KW/article note sheet and a guided note sheet to complete.

6. There will be visuals for the visual learners (article and presentation), audial instruction (presentation
and discussion), and model drawing for kinesthetic learners. There will also be individual and whole
group instruction throughout the lesson. Filled out notes will be given to the aids of the students with
special needs in order to help the students get the notes that they need at their own pace.

7. I will know students have learned what they were supposed to learn through discussion and model
building. They should be able to tell me how eclipses are formed as well as show me how by creating a
drawn model.
8. I would like you to specifically pay attention to my voice levels as well as my classroom management
skills. I have struggled with getting my voice to carry in be loud in the classroom without a microphone. I
have been trying to speak to the class without one so far this year and I wanted to see how my voice is
and if I should return to using a microphone. Also, I am always worried about how my classroom
management skills are and would like to get some extra feedback on that aspect of teaching.
