Dear Parents of Ms.

Whaley’s class,
We are planning on a field trip to the Michigan Science Center in Detroit Mi. The trip
will be on September 16 and will leave at 8 AM and return by 2 PM. The cost will be $16.00
per students. A fundraiser will be available for those who would like to raise the money required
for the field trip (further information will be provided on a separate handout). Students are
allowed to bring up to $15 for souvenir money. Lunches are to be brought in a disposable
paper bag and contain foods that do not need to be refrigerated. The class will be
transported to and from the center by school bus. The facility is wheelchair accessible. If you
have any concerns about paying for the trip or providing a lunch, please feel free to contact me

The purpose of this field trip is to get students excited to learn science! They will learn
what it means to be a scientist and about several different types of sciences that they will study
throughout the year. The center contains many interactive exhibits for your students to explore.
We will learn while having fun!
Any parent that would like to chaperone will have to pay an additional $16.00 for their
ticket. We are allowing 5 chaperones to attend so the first five applicants will be accepted. An
email will be sent out stating who was chosen to attend the trip. Chaperones will be responsible
for a group of 5 students and assisting them with their assignment.
