Kansas City Zoo Field Trip Information 

We will depart CWC at 9:00. We will begin loading buses to return to school at 1:50 for a 2:00 departure.  
Dress: 
Please dress your child in comfortable clothes and walking shoes (no sandals or flip flops please). 
Water Bottles are welcome, but students will be responsible for holding them during the visit. 
Sack Lunches will be provided by lunch staff ​for students who consistently purchase school lunch ​and 
taken to the park. We will need a few volunteers to load the lunches and keep in the car until lunch time. 
We will also need volunteers to help unload the lunches and bring them into the park at lunch time. Let 
us know if you would to like to help. ​If you typically pack a lunch for your child on a daily basis, 
please pack his or her lunch in a brown paper bag for the field trip. 
Medications: 
If your child has routine medication that is on file with CWC, each teacher will take that medicine to the 
park with them. If you have a new medication, please send a note with the medication for that child to 
take on the field trip. Sunscreen is considered a medication and if you would like it to be applied, please 
send it with a note of how it is to be taken as well. 
Chaperones 
Each classroom may have up to two chaperones ride the bus, first come, first serve. More chaperones are 
welcome, we will just be unable to provide transportation and will meet you at the Zoo! ​Admission will 
be covered for the chaperones who accompany us on the bus. Anyone (including children) who 
travel on their own and meet us at the Zoo will be asked to pay admission.  
Also, we are only collecting money for CWC students and staff, all other chaperones will need to pay at 
the entrance to the park.   
The admission prices (for Jackson County residents) are as follows:   
● $8.00 adults 
● $7.50 seniors 
● $6.50 children ages 3-11 
● Free admission for children ages 2 and under 

Transportation 

Students that ride the bus with us to the zoo, will need to return to school on the bus. Students that ride 
with parents to the zoo, will need to leave with parents as well. This will help us maintain student safety 
and consistent numbers while on the field trip. Please refer any concerns about this policy to Doug Smith, 
principal of CWC.
