Environmental Issue

South Cotabato Open-pit mining (Tampakan issue). Many activists fight to ban this mining company.
This kind of project destroys many tribal communities because of mudflow coming from the mining
location in South Cotabato. Many roads have been destroyed, and People's health is put in danger
because of that. Mining is good for trading but follows some government protocol to protect ‘s region the
people’s health. In addition, not just individuals or Cotabato’s people who are affected by these
environmental issues moreover, it will remove topsoil and destroy wildlife in an area with high unique
biodiversity. It will affect the living species around the area where the activities are performed. This issue
is solved by banning this project, many activists/Indigenous fight for their rights to protect their family,
health, and also their community and region. And at the same time, mining has multiple effects in the
environment including erosion, deforestation, contamination and alteration of soil, contamination of local
river and wetlands, and an increase in noise level, dust and emissions. However, it will affect the
cotabato's people and their health is included in these land mining, but also the environment and it's
welfare.

Forest degradation, Mt. Busa forest Mining, and logging threaten wildlife because of human activities.
higher temperatures and unpredictable weather patterns increase the risk and severity of forest fires, pest
infestation, and disease. But the leading cause of forest degradation is unsustainable and illegal logging.
Illegal logging can cause floods and the habitat of endangered species. Illegal hunters capture these
species to sell in the market. Illegal loggers cut the veteran tree which is prohibited by the government
who’s protecting this mountain. environmentalists and local officials legalize and strengthen the
mountain’s protection by including it in the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas Systems.

Dirty Energy, Davao electricity customers in power-starved Mindanao are outraged by government plans

Depletion of marine resources, located in San Isidro in Mindanao committed to eliminating plastic
pollution. Marine species mistakenly eat plastic which is cause their death and also the plastics destroy
their natural habitat and the corals. Many fishermen collected many plastics in the mouth of the fish they
caught which is dangerous to the health of the people who eat them. Many turtles back will release into
the sea but they keep in rehabilitation because of the plastic floating in the ocean, many turtles die
because of indigestion from plastic waste. To protect marine species the people collecting the plastic
make it “eco-bricks” and they campaign and influence people to waste their plastic properly way.
