Cyberbullying
- The use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an
intimidating or threatening nature.
The factor of cyberbullying
Whereas low self-esteem is usually linked to traditional bullying, many cyberbullies
demonstrate a high perception of self-esteem in perceiving their relationships with peers as
satisfying. However, feelings of loneliness and a perception of unsafety at school were often
linked to cyberbullying.

Netizens in Cyberspace Active Citizenship

Slang term derived from the combination of the words "Internet" and "citizen." The term
netizen is used to describe people who use the Internet to participate in or contribute to an
Internet group or society. The word may also be used to describe an individual who spends a lot
of time on the net.

Cyber Rights
Cyber citizenship is based on the general concept of citizenship but differs in a couple of ways.
First, there are no real “rights” you have as a cyber citizen other than the legal protections you
already have as an actual citizen. Moreover, some of those are not available due to the global
nature of the cyber world. Nevertheless, every citizen of the cyber world should have the right
to respect, privacy and their own opinion. We have the right to privacy.
Netiquette
Netiquette is a made-up word from the words net and etiquette. Netiquette thus describes
the rules of conduct for respectful and appropriate communication on the internet. Netiquette
is often referred to as etiquette for the internet. These are not legally binding rules, but
recommended rules of etiquette.

The 5 netiquette rules

1.Make sure identification is clear in all communications.
2.Review what you wrote and try to interpret it objectively.
3. If you wouldn't say it face to face, don't say it online.
4. Don't assume everyone understands where you're coming from.
5. Don't spam.

Educational Site and Portals

An education portal is a specially designed website that provides a host of educational
services. A public website typically provides a range of general information about the school,
programs, course, history, and admissions.
What are educational sites?
Educational websites may include games, videos, or websites with resources related to the
subject that serve as tools to enhance learning and teaching in the classroom. These websites
help make the student entertaining and engaging, especially in today's age.
Online Communities of Learning
In an online learning community, people share knowledge via textual discussion
(synchronous or asynchronous), audio, video, or other Internet-supported media. Blogs blend
personal journaling with social networking to create environments with opportunities for
reflection.

The importance of online communities of learning

The community helps to instill a sense of belonging and camaraderie which keeps students
engaged and motivates them to persevere. Because of the community's discussion forums,
students have the opportunity to develop relationships with fellow students.
