1. Babu and the Lion
One day, there was a slave whose name was Babu. His master was very, very bad. You
know, he often punched Babu and did not offer him food for days. Poor Babu! So he escaped
into a forest and slept in a cave.
Next morning, he heard a loud roar. In front of him...., at the mouth of the cave..., was
a very big lion. You see, Babu was scared to death! Kind of scary, isn’t it? But he could not
escape.
But the lion didn’t attack him. It was tame. There was a large thorn in its right front
foot. The lion looked at Babu. It seemed to say something like:”Please help me. It’s very
painful.” Babu walked bravely to the lion and pulled out the thorn. Babu and the lion turned
out to be friends.

2. I Love My Pet
Most people in the world have a pet. I also have it. My pet is dog, named Miko. Its
color is brown. It has brown eyes, too. I got this pet from my friend at the beginning of
2009. He bought it from a pet shop in his country. Once a week, my mother bathes him.
He is funny and smart. It often plays with my neighbor’s dog. I love him very much
because he can be my friend, too.
3. Healthy Lunch
Children should eat healthy lunches in school every day.
Firstly, children need to drink milk to make their teeth and bones strong. Some schools
provide milk for children and this is an excellent idea.
Secondly, children need to eat fruit and vegetables every day to keep them healthy. Some
children do not eat fruit or vegetables and they get sick more often.
Sweets and fizzy drinks should be banned from schools because they rot your teeth.
Finally, if all schools have a rule about healthy lunch’s children will grow strong and healthy.

4. Why does it rain?

When water becomes warm enough, it evaporates as vapor into the air. When a mass of
air quickly cools to its saturation point, the water vapor condenses into clusters of tiny water
droplets and frozen water crystals. We call these clusters clouds. Over time, the droplets and
crystals that make up a cloud can attract more water to themselves. When water droplets grow
heavy enough, gravity pulls them down as raindrops. If the air is cold enough, the ice crystals
can remain frozen and grow large enough to fall as snow, sleet, freezing rain or hail.

5. Sarah and Her Step Mother

Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl called Sarah, who lived with her step
mother. Her step mother was very bossy, greedy and arrogant. She hated Sarah a lot.
One day when her father was working outside, the step mother hit Sarah and
expelled her from the house. She went outside and walked far away from the house.
Suddenly she saw a big melon farm and went in it. After that she hid in a big melon. She
used to go out of the melon and get her food.
One day a prince visited the farm and saw the big melon. “Cut this melon I want to
eat it,’’ the prince said. The prince’s guards started to cut the melon but they heard a voice
from it. Sarah said “Don’t cut me please!” They were all surprised at this situation. The
prince said “Who are you? Calm down, please come out.” After that she came out. He fell
in love with her.
She told him her story so the prince decided to marry her and they lived happily
ever after.
1. Application B Instructions: Identify what type of text is being used in
every passages, if it is NARRATIVE, DESCRIPTIVE, EXPOSITORY or
PERSUASIVE. Write your answer in a one-fourth sheet of paper.
ANSWER DIRECTLY AND SILENTLY.

1. Lion
The lion is a large carnivore from the cat family. Its current habitat is limited to
some areas of Africa and India, but there was a time when lions could be found all over
Africa, Asia, and southern Europe. The lion's dignified appearance and demeanor, along
with its ranking among the strongest animals in the world, make it known as the "king of
beasts." Lions usually travel in groups known as "prides" usually consisting of one or two
males, three to six females and several children. They feed on many different things, their
prey including everything from beetles and reptiles, to large herbivorous animals.
2. Martin Luther Kings I Have A Dream
Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from
the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time
to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now
is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

3. The Owl and the Nightingale

There was once a nightingale in a cage by a window that was his habit to sing only
at night. An owl was puzzled by this and went to ask the nightingale what the reason
was. “When I was captured“, explained the nightingale, “it was day and I was singing.
In this way I learnt to be more carefully and to sing only at night.”
“Are you afraid you might be captured a second time?” asked the owl. “Oh, it would
have been better if you had been more careful the À rest time when your freedom was
at risk. Now it doesn’t really matter anymore, right?”

4. Winston Churchill’s speech during World War II as Britain faced invasion from Nazi
Germany
Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have
fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of
Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in
France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing
confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island,
whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the
landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in
the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment
believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our
Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry
on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power
and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

5. What is Behavioral Psychology?

Let's define behavioral psychology. Behavioral psychology is the study of the
connection between our minds and our behavior. Sometimes you will hear behavioral
psychology referred to as behaviorism. The researchers and scientists who study
behavioral psychology are trying to understand why we behave the way we do and they are
concerned with discovering patterns in our actions and behaviors. The hope is that if we
can use behavioral psychology to help us predict how humans will behave, we can build
better habits as individuals, create better products as companies, and develop better living
spaces as communities.
