EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report discuses my overall internship experience that lasted for three months. It has five
main portions. The first part discusses the company’s brief history, organization and work flow
and current status and affaires of the company in the design industry.
The second section talks about the overall internship experience, staring from how I had the
opportunity to enroll in the company and going on to the main tasks I performed and some major
site observations that I made.
The thread section also talks about the challenge I have facing & measure taken in order to
overcome
The fourth section focuses on the benefits of this program. I discussed these benefits in to
aspects, one from practical skills and theoretical knowledge point of view and the other from
personal and work ethics related issues. The first one is clear but the later one is in my opinion
equally beneficial for it creates a sense of professionalism in the student and motivates him/her
to socially adapt in to a new environment outside the classroom.
The last section suggests some remedial measures that the university & company should take in
regard to some technical errors that I have witnessed on the office. And I have stated my overall
assessment of the whole internship experience and indicated some improvements that I believe
can make it easy for this program to meet its objective. In short it explains the experiences I have
gained during my three month long stay. And I
Have tried to discuss them with much relation to what I have learnt in the classroom for the last
three years. Of course there is not much to say when it comes to some of the tasks I was handed
to do since they were not new to me. Other than these tasks I must admit it was an exciting 3
month for it was an eye opening and educating experience.
All in all, I gained a lot from the experience and intend to use it in the future.

CHAPTER TWO
2. OVER ALL INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
2.1 How to get (choose) this company
When our institute leader recorded office of architecture at end of first semester (January 2016)
for our class students where we want, I fill on form Nekemt. But our leader do not got
architectural office in Nekemt. I started to search a place for intern ship in summery break at that
time all students from different university hold the place and started their intern ship time. Then
continue searching of, I went to Nekemt construction office, and asked the place of intern ship.
They answered yes, but the office is known the not well organized, Up to you return from the
campus the office can organized. Even though it is not my hop to enjoy this company, because I
considered there is no process of design in this office rather than planning for the city sharing of
the land. But my assumption is revers, even analyzing the design is the way of acquiring of the
knowledge from deferent professionals.

2.2 Section of the company I have been working

As I join this company a person who I meet is the manager of architectural office of Nekemt city
construction office whose name is Senbeto Imana. He directed the later to architect Tariku Melkamu
and told us to work with architect Tariku. After the latter reached Tariku he have meeting with us.
The meeting is that gives us introduction what to do, how to do and which section of work is more
needed for architectural. Generally our meeting is about our time that spending for the future. How
we can work together, what are our responsibility, and the smooth relationship between us. Then he
gives us not only one section he makes us to be more flexible on our work.
The sections I have been working are
I. Analyzing the design of the building submitted to the office with my friends and.
II. II. Analyzing a give site and developing the given project.

2.3 Work flow in the sections

The company I served Nekemt construction office, as name indicate the work of the company is the
same with others city municipality. Auto of the municipality office I wrote on architectural one.
The flow of work in this section is looks like below;

 Frist when the design submitted to the office manager, he check owner of the land.
 Next he checks the latter of permeability to develop on a site.
 Then his analysis a given site is to develop what type of building on it.
 After that he transferred the document to the other workers of the office. The workers
analyses the document sharing to each other based on their professional.

They analyses design the flowing parts;

My first tasks are

In my time in the office I have been involved in the design section mostly than other sections because
the office have shortage of manpower in this section. Over 3 projects have passed through me at

 2.5 The overall procedure that is used while performing tasks

Each and every task has its own procedure to perform. In my task preforming I differentiate based on
the work that is given.

I perform in design analyzing process;

1. Wrote down unclear points & new for me
2. Discussing with my friends
3. Revising unclear parts with supper visor

In design process following the design steps;

1. Information gathering: - asking our supervisor, using internet, referring the books, & revising the

2.6 Site Visit

The site work was the very important task for me because the internship main objective lies over
it and I have gain many knowledge from the site like communication skill, handling workers,
management skill etc. within four month I have the ability to see many works from the project.
At this office the site visit is two days with in a week which is Wednesday and Friday.
At the site the main work at the site is controlling time, cost and quality so those work needs
inspection, test conducting and taking different measures when the contractor don‘t execute it
properly. And also we visit site to do a new site plan for every individuals that already have it or
not because of the new master plan it has to be rectified. After these two weeks experience that
used me to know how the office roll i.e., the bureaucracy; how to approve designs and how to
give information to the client about their land property.
One of this companies filed of work is consulting and supervision of construction, which are
designed by this office or other designing office. In my internship period I have got chance to see
some commercial building. I have got good explanation and guidance by the site engineer. The
site engineer had explain and show as each and every phase of building construction with enough
examples and paper works, the site engineer also explained the strength and weakness projects
in terms of material quality and structural problems mostly the corruption and late delivery of
construction materials.
I tried my best to get time for site visiting by asking Arc Tariku and making an appointment with
the site supervisors. Active site. I found out that he is working on site in multipurpose building
that is designed by FH & Eng. cons.
When I started this internship programmed, all footings were already casted so I did not have the
chance to see footing reinforcements. Also most of the foundation columns were

20
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

Already casted.
 Roughly, the size of the building is 20mx38m
 The building is designed for office purpose.

2.6.1 The work task I have been executing at site is:

Supervising of works.
Inspecting the worked element and how they work.
Checking the work based on the given check list.
Testing materials.

2.7 Performance (How good I have been in performing my work task)

If you are interested in turning your internship in to a job offer it is important to know exactly
what employers look for when hiring full time employs. In addition to relevant skill employers
who have the personal value characteristics and personality traits that spell success. Good
personal values are what make the foundation for a good employ. Internships are excellent time
to show employers that u have the personal traits that they value in their employees. Don’t make
mistake of missing the opportunity to show your supervisor at your internship that you have what
it takes to be successful on the job as well as possessing the personal characteristics they value.
An internship is the opportunity to learn the skill and behavior along with the work values that
are required for success in the work place

2.8 What makes employer good in performance

1. Strong work ethics: Employers value employees who understand and possess a
willingness to work hard. In addition to working hard it is also important to work smart.
This means learning the most efficient way to complete task and finding ways to save
time while completing daily assignments. It also important to care about your job and
complete all project while maintaining a positive attitude doing more than it expected on
the job is good way to show management that you utilize good time management skill
and don’t waste valuable company time attending to personal issues not related to the job.
Downsizing in today’s job market is quite common so it is important to recognize the
personal value and attributes employers want to improve your chance of job security
should a layoff occur
2. Dependability and responsibility: Employers value employees who come to work on
time, are there when they are supposed to be and are responsible for their action and

22
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

behavior. It is important to keep supervisor a breast of changes in your schedule or if you

are going to be late for any reason. This also mean keeping your supervisor informed on
where you are on all projects you have been assigned. Being dependable and responsible
as an employer shows your employer that you value your job and that you are responsible
in keeping up with projects and keeping them informed of the things that they should
know about.
3. Possessing a positive attitude: Employers seek employees who take the initiative and
have the motivation to get the job done in a responsible period of time. A positive attitude
gets the work done and motivates other to do the same without dwelling on the challenge
that inevitably come up in any job. It is the enthusiastic employee who creates an
environment of good will and who provides a positive role model for others. a positive
attitude is something that is most valued by supervisors and co-worker and that also
makes the job more pleasant and to go each day.
4. Adaptability: Employers seek employees who are adaptable and maintain flexibility in
completing task in an ever changing work place. Being open to change and improvement
provides an opportunity to complete work assignment in a more efficient manner while
offering additional benefit to the corporation, the costumer, and even the employee.
While often times employees complain that changes in the work place don’t make sense
or make their work harder, often times these complaints are due to a lack of flexibility.
Adaptability also means adapting to the personality and work habits of co-workers and
supervisors. Each person possesses their own set or strength and adapting personal
behaviors to accommodate others is part of what it takes to work effectively as a team.
By viewing change as an opportunity to complete work assignments in a more efficient
manner, adapting to change can be a positive experience. New strategies, ideas, priorities,
and work habits can foster a belief among workers that management and staff are both
committed to making the work place a better place to work.
5. Honesty and integrity: employers value employees who maintain a sense of honesty and
integrity above all else. Good relationships are built on trust. When working for an
employer they want to know that they can trust what you say and what you do.
Successful business work to gain the trust of customer and maintain the attitude that the
customer is always right. It is the responsibility of each person to use their own individual

23
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

sense of moral and ethical behavior when working with and serving other within the
scope of their job.

6. Self-motivated: employer look for employees who require little supervision and
direction to get the work done in a timely and professional manner. Supervisor who hire
self-motivated employees do themselves an immense favor. For self-motivated
employees require very little direction from their supervisor. Once a self-motivated
employee understands his/her responsibility on the job they will do it without any
prodding from others. Employers can do their part by offering a safe, supportive, work
environment that offers employees an opportunity to learn and grow. Working in
supportive work environment and taking the initiative to be self-directive will provide
employees with a better sense of accomplishment and increased self-esteem.
7. Motivated to grow and learn: In an ever changing work place, employers seek
employees who are interested in keeping up with new developments and knowledge in
the field. It has been noted that one of the top reason employees leave their employers is
lack of opportunity for career development within the organization, learning new skill,
techniques, methods, and theories through professional development helps keep the
organization at the top of its field and makes the employees job more interesting and
exciting keeping up with current change in the field is vital for success and increased job
security.
8. Strong self-confidence: self-confidence has been recognized as a key ingredient between
some who is successful and someone who is not. A self-confident person is someone who
inspires others. A self-confident person is not afraid to ask question on topics where they
feel they need more knowledge. They feel little need to have to impress others with what
they know since they feel comfortable with themselves and don’t feel they need to know
everything. The self-confident person does what he/she feels is right and is willing to take
risk. Self-confident people can also admit their mistakes. They recognize their strength as
well as their weakness and are willing to work on the latter. Self-confident people have
faith in themselves and their abilities which is manifested in their positive attitude and
outlook on life

24
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

9. Professionalism: employers value employees who exhibit professional behavior at all

times. Professional behavior includes learning every aspect of a job and doing it to the
best of one’s ability. Professionals look, speak, and dress accordingly to maintain an
image of someone who takes pride in their behavior and appearance. Professionals
complete projects as soon as possible and avoid letting uncompleted project pile up.
Professionals complete high quality work and are detail oriented. Professional behavior
includes all of the behavior above in addition to providing a positive role model for
others.
Professionals are enthusiastic about their work and optimistic about the organization and
its future. To become professional you must feel like a professional and following these
tips is a great start to getting to where you want to go.

10. Loyalty: employers value employees they can trust and who exhibit their loyalty to the
company. Loyalty in the workforce has taken on a new meaning. Gone are the days when
employees plan on starting out and retiring with the same company. It is said that most
people hold between 8-12 jobs throughout their career. What does this this mean in terms
of loyalty in today’s workforce?
Companies offering employee growth and opportunity will ultimately gain a sense of
loyalty from their employees. Employees today want to feel a sense of satisfaction in
their jobs and will do a good job when they feel that the employer is fair and wants to see
them succeed. Although this may mean only staying in apposition employees can offer
loyalty and make an important contribution during their time with the company. Offering
jobs that encourage learning and the development of new skills also gives employees a
sense of empowerment in the workplace. Aligning an employee’s value with the goal of
the organization will foster loyalty and bound between employer employee

This is the character of one intern to be known as interns good in performing the given task. To
say I have been good in performing the task as much as possible I should fulfill the disciplines
that are listed above. Because those disciplines those are listed above are the measurements of
intern’s performance. May be if the question how good you have been in performing your work
task? Is asked for one intern his answer is positive because he/she feels as he has been good in

25
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

performing the given task rather than if there is conflict and disagreement between the interns
and the supervisor of the company.

I am also the same I think I have been good in performing my task. No one is perfect I know
some times there are some challenges that makes me boring to work my task not only this
punctuality is another challenge thus why I am user of university’s café. This makes me too late
in the morning time. Rather than this I have been good in performing any task that is given to me

The other is how intern has been good in performing work task is more evaluated by the
company’s supervisor because company’s supervisor looks for the interns how the interns
performing his/her task.

CHAPTER THREE
3. THE CHALLENGES THAT HAS BEEN FACING AND MEASURE
TAKEN IN

3.1 THE CHALLENGES THAT HAS BEEN FACING WHILE PERFORMING TASK

Any job will have challenges, but after a year of my own internship experience and hearing
friends share over happy hours about their internship. The challenges on internship is sometimes
common due to the student have internship time somewhat related even if the companies have
related character. I have found that there is some common intern challenge to expect.

In my point of view the reason that causes the challenge in internship is that:

 Internship is temporary
 Internship is under/unpaid
 Here are some of the big challenges that this work environment creates:
1. Not enough work. There’s not enough work assigned to you. You’re bored,
underutilized, strumming your fingers at your desk. If there is no any work to do

26
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

2. Supervisors forget that you're new to the field. Your supervisor gives you a task to
perform but you meet with him a little time or less consultation time. Your supervisor
gives you a project, but the directions don't quite make sense to you, or you're having
trouble seeing the bigger picture. This goes along with “don’t assume.” Ask! It’s your
right as an intern and it’s their duty as a supervisor! They will be impressed that you care
about doing it right the first time or learning more about the overall field.
3. Afraid to ask questions. All of a sudden there’s an influx of work, and you finally have
the chance to prove yourself! But you’re not sure about x, y, z….You may feel the
pressure to be an independent and self-sufficient worker, but it’s so much better to clarify
uncertainties!
4. Absence of competition with other interns: because of number if interns are too small
there is no competition between each of them if there is also very low. This makes the
interns not to evaluate themselves. Interns did not know their position with regard to
other. If the number of interns are to lot a competition between inters also high and one
competes with other to create new things and also the interns their own value that each
inters give for them. As an student of one university where are they as the intern place
where are they with regard with other students of the company’s worker and
professionally skilled workers of the company.
5. Feeling your work is not used your boss gives you a project that you finally feel will
make use of your college education. But it ends up never being published, getting lost on
their desk, or, whoops – there was a miscommunication between the senior staff and your
project is now unnecessary. Not only is this frustrating because of your seemingly wasted
time and effort, but it makes you less motivated for projects in the future. You don’t have
any information weather your work is used or not but you feel your work is not used I am
simply waste my time. You are less motivated for the next project that is given.
6. A New Lifestyle. At the beginning of the internship time you have entered in to the new
life style which is completely different from that of school life.at this it somewhat
challenged to adapt. If you’re a later college graduate, you may be getting used to a new
life style that can be quite jarring. Instead of waking up at ten and going to a few classes a
day, you’re sitting at a desk 9-5. You might be living at your parents to save money. The
hours and the new living situation clearly make socializing more difficult than before.

27
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

3.2 Measure taken in order to overcome these challenges

 Measurements that I have taken to overcome these challenges were:

 Being patient and finalizing the project until the end by satisfying the client.
 Family aid, cost wise.
 Using many references to improve the level of doing details
 Trying to manage my time
 Seeing the 3d max tutorials and extensive practice and
 Adjusting my working environment considering the lately survival of the office to
address the listed problems.

Challenges are very common. It doesn’t matter how critical the matter is. What matters is how
you face them and how you tackle them. I was very fortunate to be able to witness how such
issues are approached and handled and also I got the opportunity to handle such issues by
myself.

Asking your senior employees if you can help with their projects is fine, but it also can be
embarrassing or disheartening repeatedly admitting that you have nothing to do.

Don’t be afraid of your supervisor. Follow this one rule and you will become a better worker -
Don't Assume. My friend is a civil engineer, and her supervisor told her his most important rule
was to never assume something's right! Always check if you’re not sure. You will avoid silly
mistakes and crumbly bridges.

It is somewhat difficult to adapt new life style don’t fall into the go home, addictive personality,
sleeping to skip the time of boring. You’re every movement and activities should be regarding to
adapt the life style you are facing. Do what some of my friends have done to keep life spicy. Join
local games, football, or other such sports team and follow most popular site on internet.

CHAPTER FOUR
4. BENEFITS THAT I GAINED FROM THE INTERNSHIP
4.1 THE OVER ALL BENEFITS THAT GAINED FROM THE INTERNSHIP

 Improving practical skills

 up grading theoretical skill

28
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

 Upgrading interpersonal communication skill

 Improving team playing skill
 Improving leadership skill
 Understanding about work ethics related issues
 Entrepreneurship skills
One of the most important and obvious goals of an internship is the acquisition of actual real
world experience. Industrial attachment gives you a full and realistic view of workplace
environment.

Imagine you’re a student, your University has said that you need to complete an internship to
graduate; it can be in your home country or anywhere in the world. If you decide on an
internship abroad then it will give you the perfect opportunity to mix education with a unique
travel experience. Depending on your studies or your desired career path, an internship in a
foreign country may not only be beneficial but rather a requirement. Think about tourism studies:
an employer is more likely to hire a person with experience abroad than someone without. Take
into consideration in which field an internship aboard might be the better option when deciding
where to complete the internship. Living in a foreign country is a great opportunity to make the
most of your time and experience a different culture. If you decide to complete an internship
abroad, get ready for a great time full of new experiences and adventures! An internship abroad
is a “once in a lifetime experience” that is highly appreciated by companies and employers
everywhere. You get the chance to really get to know a different culture and live, work & speak
with the locals. As an intern you have the opportunity to gain insight into the everyday workings,
processes and strategies of a company and the industry. You will be able to experience a variety
of different areas of the host company, and create a true opinion for yourself of your chosen
industry, rather than a perceived view.

An internship enables you to ‘sample’ your field before committing to a demanding course,
degree or job. Internship is therefore useful for learning and improving soft skills such as
communication, problem solving, analytical, decision-making, leadership, presentation,
teamwork, networking and interpersonal skills. Furthermore your educational experience can be
enhanced through practical work assignments that expose you to the work of the employer (the
internship provider). By participating in an internship, you gain hands-on experience and

29
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

enhance your knowledge in a career field. The opportunity to develop professional competence is
a major plus - learning and contributing in the workplace.

Generally there are many reasons why you may choose to complete an internship, but the main
focus of all internships should be to gain beneficial skills, training & experience in a practical
working environment.

4.2 Benefits gained in terms of improving interns practical skills:

If you’re not sure if this is the right career for you, doing an internship is a great way to try it out.
Internships are generally short-term, so you can test your future career without committing and
find out if it is a career that will satisfy you. ? Internships are a great way to "try-out" career
possibilities. Participating lifts the veil by allowing the student to learn more about the specific industry,
field, technology, product or company. This is while you obtain the new skills that you never know before
or have a little hint about it, may be software works and other practical skill.

Finding work can be a real challenge, especially if you don't have any experience. Yet to get
experience you must first find a job. It's a nasty catch that can be difficult to get around but an
internship is a good way to do it. But it’s not just to gain a sense of the work environment.
Internship makes it possible to link the academic environment with workplace and professional
realities in terms of opportunities and challenges. Internship is an opportunity to learn firsthand
about valued requirements that can’t be taught or experienced in the classroom.

4.3 Benefits gained in terms of upgrading interns’ theoretical knowledge

In terms of upgrading my theoretical knowledge I gained detail & clear way of scheduling
redevelopment plan for detail spare part on which day can be each plan maintain ,what type of
design can be they used ,& in what duration gap can we apply the scheduled plan for each of
them by classifying them in to daily, weekly, monthly, & yearly. And also how can order spare
part list using their item code by referring manual & using inventory list on the computer for
each part according to design plan tomorrow

Another reason why internships should be mandatory is the fact that it would demonstrate to the
world how the university system in company is able to cover the theoretical and practical sides of

30
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

what is taught in the classes. Technical skills will improve as you put the theory that you have
learnt in the classroom into practice. You will be faced with intricacies of your chosen industry
which aren’t taught at University but can only be gained through practical training. The everyday
tasks that are involved in the profession will be performed on a regular basis. Practice makes
perfect. In addition to class learning the theoretical knowledge which I obtain from internship is
the standards which I know on the book before. I know the standard of each and every thing in
design is based on the living standard and life style of the country in which the design is going to
be designed.

4.4 Benefits gained in terms of improving interns interpersonal communication

skills:

Working in industry is about working with people. “No man is an island” - John Donne. You
might be a strong academic performer with the best results or grade in your class but please
experience is not about “one-woman-or-one-man-riot-squads”. It’s important to know how to
learn and work with people to get results. People aren’t machines or zombies. Internship is
therefore useful for learning and improving soft skills such as communication.

 In terms of improving interpersonal communication skills:

 Motivation for work
 Negotiation & conflict control-to reach an agreement
 Politeness colleagues and others person
 Being openness with other people considering the work under taken
 Self –confidence
 Honesty for company and colleagues
 Personal right & obligation
 Confident in quick decision making ability.
 Works well under pressure.
 Dedicated and hard working.
 Eager to learn new skills.

31
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

 Great development and problem solving skills.

Internships are a great way to meet people in your field. Even if you have experience, knowing
people never hurts. An internship allows you to meet people who might help you land a job later
on and give you the contacts in the industry you’re trying to break into. Plus, references from
people in the industry will really add weight to your application.

4.5 Benefits gained in terms of improving intern’s team playing skills

I gain the way can develop very interesting behavior that is never happened before. While you
are working one task in team your behavior should be compatible with others thus why in the
true world the behavior of each and every human being is difference.

One may have smart behavior in other direction one may have ugly behavior. At the time of
internship you may work with the interns of those like character. I have been improved

 How can be patient with person who work with

 Giving respect for other
 How can Make Close relation with the community of my environment
 Develop listening skill
 Problem solving

4.6 Benefits gained in terms of improving intern’s leadership skills : leader of the
company has the major role. You have seen how the company’s workers and the leader are
related on their working area and the respect of the leader for the workers and guests who come
to the office of the company. Every form of feedback can be helpful for you. You can find out
what your strengths are and how you can improve even more. Moreover you can also benefit
from any form of criticism you might experience. An internship is the time to make mistakes, as
the employer knows you may not be experienced in this field at all and even expects you to make
some mistakes. So you can get away with much more as an intern than as a full paid employee,
which means you’re not under constant pressure to be “perfect”. An employer can take his time
to give you advice and tips on how to avoid making the same mistakes again. Try and learn from
that, so you don’t make the same errors when you are in a “real” job. If the leader gives such like

32
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

advice for the interns and also some new graduate students you have improve some character
which is polite is more beneficial than the behavior of angry.

The leadership skills may contain:

 How can establishing direction as a leader of a team

 Aligning people
 Motivating & inspiring
 Focus on team & overall goals
 Communication with each people under my control
 Discussion on work and challenges face during implementation

4.7 Benefits gained in terms of understanding about work ethics related issue

Unlike professionalism, which governs your overall behavior during the workday, work ethic
relates to what you bring to the job your contributions to the overall success of the
company/Organization. One way to demonstrate a good work ethic is to show up for work early
every day. Showing up five or ten minutes early tells the employer that you are interested,
concerned and committed to your job and thereby to the company/organization all of this
Without saying a word or lifting a single tool!! Better yet, stay late at the end of the workday.
Before leaving, ask if there is anything else that you can do that would be helpful. Your
employer will notice and appreciate these traits.

I demonstrate a strong work ethic often garner offers of full-time work upon graduation. If you
are expected to submit a work diary at the end of the internship, make it a habit to record your
work on a daily basis. The best practice is to write a short essay after work on the day’s work
including comments on methods used, new techniques learned, or suggestions you would make
to improve procedures. Be specific and complete in your writing. Fill up one entire lined
notebook page. It need not be typed. Try not to put it off for several days because you will not
remember the details of the work done many days prior. Learning strong work ethics the most
efficient way to complete tasks & finding ways to save time while completing daily assignments.

33
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

 Dependable& responsible-come on time, responsible for the actions.

 Adaptability-adapting to the personality & work habits of co- workers & supervisors.
 Being open to change & improvements to complete work in more efficient.
 Possessing a positive attitude to get the job done in a reasonable period of time.
 Motivates others to do the same within challenges.
 Honesty & Integrity- is the responsibility of each person to use their own individual.
 Sense of moral & ethical behavior when working within the scope of their job.

4.8 Benefits gained in terms of entrepreneurship skills: Employers see interns as

prospective employees and many finish their internships and continue working with the company
full time. Internships are the number one way for employers to find new staff. Think of it as a
really long interview, after which you’ve proved that you are a capable and hardworking
employee. Just as you’re giving the industry and the company a trial run, they’re doing the same
for you.

Internships create an integral connection between proficiency in the classroom and the ability to
produce work as a professional, serving an important function in the transition from study to
practice.

 working in a ‘real’ firm with professionals

 being asked to return to a firm upon graduation,
 being able to list ‘architectural work’ experience on your resume,
 coming face to face with reality of the work force,
 learning to work for and with others
 experiencing the location – living on your own
 realizing your strengths and weakness

As Entrepreneurship is the process of creating something new with value by devoting the
necessary time & effort, assuming the necessary risks, & expecting rewards for undertaking,
from this internship program I gained different ideas to Make myself free from the limit of
standardized pay for standardized work (profit) Freedom from supervision & rules of
bureaucratic organizations (independence) Freedom from routine, boring & unchallenging jobs
(satisfying way) And it makes me interested in:

34
WOLLEGA UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIP REPORT ARCHITECTURE

 High need for achievement

 Willingness to take risks
 A need to exercise leadership
 Self-confidence
 Creativity.

CHAPTER FIVE

5. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

5.1 Conclusion

Generally internships should be mandatory is due to the fact that it supplies the market with more
instruments to evaluate the work quality of the intern. Before making the internship mandatory,
the market has no sign of the student’s performance and capacity and cannot evaluate if he
should be admitted into the company or not. Furthermore, it has some unnecessary expenditure,
if the company decides to hire a recently graduated student and it is not well qualified for the
position. The other reason why internship should be mandatory relies on the fact that it would
provide a learning experience to the student before he graduates. Nowadays, some private
universities have already adopted the new model and converted the internship as a mandatory
subject and One of the most important and obvious goals of an internship is the acquisition of
actual real world experience. Industrial attachment gives you a full and realistic view of

workplace environment. The other benefit of internship that shouldn’t be forgotten is your
educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments that expose you to
the work of the employer (the internship provider). By participating in an internship, you gain
hands-on experience and enhance your knowledge in a career field. The opportunity to develop

such as resume and cover letter preparation and interviewing. The self-evaluation you go through
when developing your resume and other job search helps you better define what you want in
your future. Usually students with internship experiences during formal education are often the
most productive in securing full time employment quickly upon graduation.

Good personal values are what make the foundation for a good employ. Internships are excellent
time to show employers that u have the personal traits that they value in their employees. Don’t
make mistake of missing the opportunity to show your supervisor at your internship that you
have what it takes to be successful on the job as well as possessing the personal characteristics
they value. An internship is the opportunity to learn the skill and behavior along with the work
values that are required for success in the work place. If you are interested in turning your
internship in to a job offer it is important to know exactly what employers look for when hiring
full time employs. In addition to relevant skill employers who have the personal value
characteristics and personality traits that spell success.

What makes employer good in performance is Strong work ethics: Dependability and
responsibility, possessing a positive attitude, Adaptability, Honesty and integrity, Self-motivated,
Motivated to grow and learn, Strong self-confidence and Professionalism. Interns should be all
of the above to become a full beneficiary of the internship.

While performing challenges are very common. It doesn’t matter how critical the matter is. What
matters is how you face them and how you tackle them. It was very fortunate to be able to
witness how such issues are approached and handled and also the student should got the
opportunity to handle such issues by themself.

good worker (intern), by using benefits and performing tasks that are given. The intern should
obtain the necessary skill that must be obtained at this stage thus why One of the most important
and obvious goals of an internship is the acquisition of actual real world experience. Industrial
attachment gives you a full and realistic view of workplace environment.
