Admission Equivalence Exam - Physics

Answer all the following questions:

(I) First question:
A) Mention ONE use for the following:
1. Superconducting material.
2. Galvanometer.
3. Electric Transformer.
4. Coolidge tube.
B) Compare between each pair of the fellowing :
1. Specific resistance and electrical conductivity from the point of view of the
measuring unit.
2. The ammeter and the ohmmeter from the point of view of scale graduation.
3. Laser beam and ordinary light beam from the point of view of collimation while
propagation.
C) Three light radiations with differnt colors and intensities are used in a photoelectric
effect experiment: a- Yellow light beam with frequency 5.5×10 14 Hz and medium
intensity, b- Green light with frequency 6×10 14 Hz and high intensity, and c- Violet
light with frequency 7.5×10 14 Hz and Low intensity. The three lights are falling on a
metal surface of work-function Ew= 4.6375×10-19 J. the Plank’s constant h= 6.625×10-34
J/Hz.
1. Which of these radiations can liberate electrons from the metalic serface ?
why ?
2. Calculate the kinetic energy of the liberated electrons.

4 Ampere. Knowing that μ=4π × 10-7 web/A.m, calculate:
1. The magnetic flux which cuts the coil of the solenoid.
2. Coefficient of self-induction.
3. Average induced e.m.f generated in the solenoid if the current is reversed in
0.1 sec.
